Street Wear Color Rich Nail Enamel : Olive Drab , Purple Magic , Mauve Passion – Review and Swatches
By Contributor: Adi S
Today’s review features one of my favourite brands of nail polish – Streetwear. Trendy shades, flawless formula and dirt cheap – what more does a girl want?! Enter Street Wear Color Rich Nail Enamel. I’ll be reviewing three lovely shades from this range: Olive Drab (36) – a bright and cheerful yellow nail polish, Purple Magic (01) – a pink-toned dark plum shade and Mauve Passion (51) – a dusty neutral-toned mauve.
Packaging: The bottle is a small square bottle with a black cap. It’s nice and sturdy. I think it’s damn cute.
Brush: Nothing special about the brush. It’s extremely easy to use though.
Formula: For 50 bucks, the formula of these nail polishes is pretty good and can give any high-end brand a run for its money. The polish really glides on to the nails and the glossy finish stays for 3-4days.
Purple Magic (01) – review and swatches
The name Purple Magic can be misleading as the shade isn’t exactly purple. It has quite a bit of pink in it as you can see the in the photos and hence would be better described as a deep plum of sorts. From what I’ve seen online, this is a pretty close dupe of Colorbar Nail Lacquer in Plum Grenadine . This shade would look lovely on all skin tones. It takes two coats to full opacity.
Mauve Passion (51) – review and swatches
Mauve Passion is a lovely dusty mauve colour that is quite close to, but not exactly, a neutral nail polish. Girls who like muted browns and beiges on their nails would love this; it’s neutral with a twist. It’s a great colour for work since it’s sober and subtle but pretty nonetheless. It takes two coats to full opacity.
Olive Drab (36) – review and swatches
Olive Drab isn’t really sunshine yellow. It is more of a slightly pale yellow nail polish, like a pastel pale lemon yellow. I bought it online thinking it was green with yellow undertones so I was really surprised. Plus I’ve never worn yellow nail polish. I mean, I’ve worn every other colour but I’m just not ready for yellow yet. But this is perfect for a spring/summer look. What colour screams ‘summer!’ more than yellow!? (Someone please convince me to wear it out and not give a damn about what people think!) The polish is quite sheer. It takes three coats to get the true colour but it’s still not 100% opaque.
So here are the pros and cons of the Streetwear Nail Polishes:
Pros:
Inexpensive!
Great formula
Lovely colours
Easily available in the market
Dry relatively quickly
Cons:
After 4-5 uses, I found the application becoming a bit streaky (I just bought Olive Drab and Purple Magic but I’ve owned Mauve Passion the longest and you can see some streakiness in the photos)
Olive Drab is a bit sheer, not 100% opaque even after three coats.
Price: Rs 50 (seriously! Love them already haha)
Rating: 4/5
Final Word: Buy these without a second thought. The colours are trendy and make a statement, the formula is excellent and they are easy on your pocket. Buy them and think later (if you feel the need to!)
