Review and swatches of 4 Wet N Wild Mega Last Lipsticks Rose Bud (904B), Coraline (909D), Mauve Outta Here (907C) and Cherry Picking (965)

By Contributor: Samannita

A lipstick for me is always a lipstick whether it’s a high end brand or drugstore one and gets same importance from me if I love the color and texture. Wet n Wild brand is one of them. It is unfortunate that it is not available in India. But when there is a desire there always a way to fulfill it and I did that to get four shades from the Mega last lip color range. I picked Coral Line, Cherry Picking, Mauve Outta Here and Rose Bud which I will review and swatch today. Mega Last lipsticks come in 20 different shades keeping every skin tone in mind and I guess everyone can find her own desirable shade from this range. I found some dupes which are available in India.

Wet N Wild Claims: Hyaluronic Microspheres provide extraordinary adhesion to lips, an exclusive polymer complex offers cushion-like feel and texture, and natural marine plant extracts Coenzyme Q10 and Vitamins A & E help smooth lips.

My Review:

The packaging to of the lipsticks is really nice as they come in a black case with transparent cap that fits the case with a sound of click thus there are no issues while travelling. The bullet of the lipsticks can be easily seen from outside through the transparent cap which is really great to find your desired shade when in a hurry without looking at the shade names of the lipsticks.

I grabbed four beautiful shades that I think will suit fair to medium Indian skin tones. The shades are Mauve Outta here, Rose Bud, Coral Line and Cherry Picking. The four shades are quite different from each other.

Coming to description of each shade:

  • Mauve Outta Here is a medium cool toned purple pink.
  • Rose-Bud is a medium warm pinky brown color.
  • Coraline is a bright coral red color.
  • Cherry Picking is a deep pink-toned red.

Among the all four my favorite is Mauve outta here. It is a perfect lipstick for daily wear. A beautiful pink that enhance my Indian complexion.

The lipsticks come in matte texture but glide smoothly on lips without any tugging or pulling of lips. They stay for 4 hours on my lips as claimed and fades a bit after heavy meals but I won’t mind touch-ups. They have a plasticky smell that troubles my nose a bit while applying but thankfully it fades away after a few mins of application. They can be a bit drying on both normal and dry lips which is very obvious for matte lipsticks so proper exfoliation and moisturization of lips is suggested.

Thumbs up for Wet n Wild Mega Last Lip Colors:

  • Nice sturdy packaging, easy to choose shades from outside.
  • Matte texture.
  • Glide smoothly on lips.
  • Fulfill the claim of staying power of 4 hours on lips.
  • Have got a wide range of shades.

Thumbs down for Wet n Wild Mega Last Lipsticks:

  • A bit drying on lips after few hours.
  • Have a plasticky smell.
  • Not available in India.

Price: $2.99 each but I had to pay a bit more due to international shipping.

VNA Rating: 4/5

Dupes: The nearest dupe of Cherry picking can be Revlon classic shade Cherries in the snow, the difference is the texture of both lipsticks. Coral-line can be dupe of MAC Proenza Mangrove lipstick or MAC lady danger. Rose-bud can be a dupe of Revlon matte lip balm in sultry. Sultry a bit darker than rose-bud. And Mauve outa here looks exact dupe of Inglot matte lipstick in shade 419 on my lips. So here you go…if you can’t get Wet N Wild you can grab the dupe atleast!

My final verdict: Despite of so many cons I will still recommend these lipsticks as these are affordable and have a wide range of shades which means they have got shades for every skin tone but unfortunately these are not available in India. If you can manage from abroad then trust me one won’t cost you more than 450 bucks until the dollar rates are easy going for us Indians!
