Whilst dolling up, playing with our makeup kits and painstakingly applying layer after layer of makeup is something that everyone of us loves to do, it is the removal that is often a nightmare (especially for lazy bones like me). But finally, after ages of praying that some genius out there comes up with a product that solves all makeup removal woes, the good people at Vivel have come up with a beauty: Vivel Cell Renew Micellar Makeup Remover which I will review today. Micellar waters are all the rage these days and they work as both cleansers and makeup removers.
There are some days when we come back home, drop-dead tired, and going through the whole process of cleanse, wipe, and wash seems just too cumbersome and tedious a process. And sleeping in with all our makeup on is really not a good idea unless raccoon eyes, horrible breakouts, and smudged lipstick is what we want next morning.
Vivel Claims: Formulated with superbly effective oil free micellar technology that gently removes all kinds of makeup including waterproof lip and eye makeup making your skin clean and revived.
My Review of Vivel Micellar Make Up Remover:
I preach but as usual, I am guilty of not following what I preach. Even though I fully know the consequences of not removing makeup before hitting the sack, I’m fully guilty of not bothering to take it off most of the time. Why, you ask? Sheer laziness and the painstaking, long procedure involved in taking off waterproof makeup . Furthermore, the texture and feel of most makeup removers is a massive turn-off, with most of them being heavy, oily and creamy: a big no-no for my already oily and pimple-prone face.
Face wipes are not an option, because they don’t do much and can leave the skin feeling a little raw, and face washes are…well, tedious. But now with this brand new vivel makeup cleanser and remover in hand, makeup removal is a dream!
But you must be wondering, what actually IS Micellar? Micellar water, as it is known, was first introduced by the French, and has been a skincare staple for them for centuries. Now, it is quite the rage amongst the best of Hollywood fashionistas, with almost every Hollywood makeup artist worth his salt toting a bottle or two of this in his kit. But, when I first read up that micellar water, meant to be the magical, no-rinse cure-all that could replace your cleanser and moisturizer in a single step, I had a healthy dose of skepticism.
Add to that the fact that I’ve never used a Vivel product ever (well, except for the vivel soap) and I wasn’t too sure about whether this was a wise decision. I couldn’t have been more wrong, though.
What I like about Vivel Cell Renew Micellar Make Up Cleanser:
Going by the definition of micellar water, it is a formulation that contain micelles, which are tiny oil molecules suspended in soft water. Micelles are attracted to dirt, grime, and oil, and they draw out impurities without drying out your skin, as might happen with a cleanser or even a face wash. Rather than containing a foamy solution that strips your skin and leaves behind harsh chemicals, vivel cell renew makeup remover clings on to the dirt and makeup on your skin and dissolve them while leaving behind a glowy, hydrated finish.
It is somewhere between a cleanser and toner, but combines the cleansing effects of a cleanser with the toning and refreshing effects of a toner. And this is exactly what Vivel Micellar Makeup Remover does. Single phase, oil free and rinse-free (yayy, no washing) this makeup remover effectively removes make-up and maintains the moisture level in skin.
What I don’t like about Vivel Cell Renew Micellar Make Up Cleanser:
Not very effective at removing matte lipsticks. But a few swipes of the remover takes care of that.
