MUA Undress Me Too Eyeshadow Palette: Urban Decay Naked 2 Dupe
By Contributor: Rmyah
Who hasn’t heard or craved the most famous duo of palettes of all time. I am of course talking about the Urban Decay Naked set of palettes. I have never seen any makeup product gain such phenomenal popularity all over the world within weeks of launch as the Naked eyeshadows did. Twelve gorgeous neutrals in each palette made it perfect for an all time favorite palette. My personal favorite is the Naked 2 over the original one as it has such a healthier mix of shades. Healthy..hah… ;) The con, did you happen to see the price. So when I had the chance to jump the bandwangon and get myself one of the Nakeds, I went for MUA. And oh what a palette. Undress Me Too ( as in Naked two….get it). Let’s start with the review and swatches.
Now I revise my opening line. Who hasn’t heard or craved about the dupe of the most craved palette of all time. I am of course talking about the MUA Undress Me Too ;)
Here’s what MUA says about the Undress Me Too, not that anyone needs it because as everyone knows it’s the perfect dupe of the Urban Decay 2….except for the copyright issues!
WOW-Try MUA’s seductive 12shade palette, creating endless looks by mixing soft neutrals and cool greys with stunning gold metallics! Mini Master Class- Load Lavish shade onto brush and sweep across entire lid to create a natural base. Using Obsessed shade, pat across outer 1/3of lid and build up the color by blending into the eye socket and out towards the temple. To contour the eye, smudge Corrupt shade into the crease line and outer corner, working the color along lower lash line for a smoky effect. Finish with a dot of shade Reveal to inner corners to make eyes pop!
Making a stray away from its usual creations, MUA has named the shades. Naked, Devotion, Shy, Fiery, Lavish, Dreamy, Tranquil, Exposed, Reveal, Wink, Obsessed, Corrupt. Wow. Doesn’t it sound like the twelve sins of life.
Packaging: MUA has definitely made a statement here by replacing the glossy black packaging with a pristine white. Looks amazing and is definitely a bestseller. Otherwise, the pan size, shape and palette structure, all remain unchanged.
Color and Texture: Of the twelve dupes of the Naked 2, I find that the MUA Undress Me Too leaves a lot left out. I think MUA must have guessed that this palette would be a sellout no matter what they use inside. And it did turn out that way. Everyone literally scrambled over each other to get their hands on this palette. But the results turned out to be substandard.
Swatches of MUA Undress Me Too Palette – Row 1
Swatches of MUA Undress Me Too Palette – Row 2
Naked: a matte cream color which is so chalky and badly pigmented. It would have made such a beautiful highlighter for the brow bone had it not been so bad.
Devotion: a satin light gold color. Buttery and highly pigmented. Beautiful shade.
Shy: a satin pearl color. Would’ve been beautiful was it not so powdery and so badly pigmented.
Fiery: a satin copper gold color. Decent pigmentation. Not so buttery as I would like it to be.
Lavish: a matte brown color. Horrible pigmentation. Chalky and yucky.
Dreamy: a satin coppery brown. Decent pigmentation. Good color payoff and quite smooth gliding.
Tranquil: a satin brown gold color. Again the pigmentation is not bad and pretty smooth color.
Exposed: a satin gunmetal grey color. Highly pigmented and buttery color.
Reveal: a satin pearl grey color. Decent pigmentation. Could’ve been smoother.
Obsessed: a pearl brown color. Pigmentation could’ve been better. Color tends to be on the chalkier side.
Wink: a shimmery brownish red-gold color. Powdery color and bad pigmentation.
Corrupt: a matte black. The color is just soooo dry and chalky. Pigmentation would have been commendable if I could just make the color stick. Such a bad quality matte black.
Overall, even though the shades are almost perfect dupes for the ones in Naked 2, I guess MUA duped us in the quality. I had never faced any such problem with any of the MUA palettes before. But this one is just so blehhh. MUA got off with selling this palette with yucky quality colors.
Here is the eye makeup I did using the Naked 2 Dupe shades:
My nude eye makeup
Soft neutral eye makeup look
Soft brown EOTD
