Review, Swatches, Price of Tarte Kiss & Belle LipSurgence Lip Tint in Dreamy
By Contributor: Himani
Who does not love a good, hydrating lip balm?? I know, everybody does!! Along with lots of makeup, I also have a fetish to collect several lip balms. Different finishes, packaging and price points intrigue me a lot. Though I am quite satisfied with my EOS lip balms, there are days when you want to go colorful on lips with a good dose of moisture. And especially with severe winters, these kind of days turn into months. Tarte LipSurgence Lip Tint in Dreamy which I will review and swatch today was picked up to satisfy these kind of wintery cravings. Lets see whether this ultra glam and expensive version of a tinted lip balm made me happy.
Tarte Claims: This award-winning, 3-in-1 lip tint offers all the benefits of a lipstick, lip gloss and a creamy balm while delivering rich, complexion-enhancing pigment and keeping lips hydrated and refreshed all day. Simply twist up the automatic pencil tip and glide it over lips to delive
r sheer color and a surge of moisture for a plumped-up, luscious appearance.
My review:
Packaging: Tarte LipSurgence Lip Tint in Dreamy comes in a very cute packaging. The lip tint is packaged as a chubby stick in form of a twist-up pencil. I love that you need not sharpen the pencil to get more product. However, the tip of the pencil will surely get blunt with regular use. The outer color on the packaging is almost identical to the color of the lip tint. This helps in picking up shades without testing and also, when you need to grab a particular shade on a busy day. The cap on the lip tint is att ached very securely and hence, makes for a sturdy travel packaging. Yes, just throw in your purse and you are good to go. :)
Shade: Tarte describes the color as cool raspberry. Tarte LipSurgence Lip Tint in Dreamy is a very pretty shade of warm pink with red undertones. Yup, quite close to the raspberry description. I love that the shade is not very bright and can be worn easily for daily wear. It brightens your face and you do not even need a full face of makeup for this. However, at the same time, the shade goes beautifully with heavy eye makeup and can be worn for special occasions as well. Thumbs up for the versatility!!
Pigmentation: Tarte Lip Tint in Dreamy is decently pigmented. Just two-three swipes is what you need for a gorgeous shade of pink on your lips. You can obviously go as sheer or heavy as you want. It layers perfectly well and does not look patchy with more swipes. The color looks really natural and does wonders to lips.
Texture: LipSurgence Lip Tint in Dreamy has a very smooth texture. It glides on the lips without any effort and feels super light. It has a glossy finish to it and provides quite a bit of hydration to the lips. The texture is very similar to a lip balm with oodles of color packed and more shine. A must try for beauties suffering from dry lips. One thing that may not be liked by everyone is its minty smell and cool feel on the lips. Since the tint has peppermint oil in it, it gives a very strong scent and feel of mint. So, do take this into consideration while buying this.
Staying Power: Tarte LipSurgence Dreamy has an average staying power. Though the brand clearly states that it is a lip tint and obviously the staying power has to be on those lines, I still expected a little more out of it. It stays on my lips comfortably for 2-3 hours, but can’t survive a meal or a drink. Also, it transfers little on surfaces. Yup, I am a little disappointed with low staying power.
Pros of Tarte LipSurgence Lip Tint Dreamy:
- Extremely hydrating on the lips.
- Very pretty shade of pink with red undertones.
- Glossy finish.
- Goes on very smoothly.
- Buildable pigmentation.
- Feels very light on the lips.
- Convenient and sturdy packaging.
Cons of Tarte LipSurgence Lip Tint Dreamy:
- Average staying power.
- May transfer easily.
- Minty smell and feel on the lips.
- Expensive for a lip tint.
Price: $24.
VNA Rating: 4/5
Recommendation: Tarte LipSurgence Lip Tint in Dreamy is a good buy for a hydrating lip tint with a good color pay-off. Though it has an average lasting power, it is still a recommended product if you want to spend a bit more on moisturizing lip tints.
