Should I Wear This Saree To My College Farewell Party? – Reader Query

saree college farewell

Sadhika asks “Hey !
Firstly, I love your blog and follow it regularly…love how you keep it simple and comprehensible!
I actually have a query… My college farewell is around..and I’ve bought this Saree with cream and black stripes…and blue at the border.. Basically, I’m confused if a printed saree is a good option for a college farewell? Could you help?

Also, could you suggest, should I wear earrings in like zarkan..like artificial diamond danglers or something in oxidized? Thanks in advance!”

Thank you so much Sadhika for the compliments. And honestly the saree is amazing! Its very rare girls go for stripped sarees and the blue at the border does the trick and take up its style quotient. You are going to look amazing! And since college farewells are day events, its good you are going for prints instead of heavy borders and stuff, you should always dress according to the occasion.

Since we are keeping the saree light, you can go with drama on your ears. I would suggest you to go for chandelier earrings or you could try big hoops, totally depends on your face cut. Keep the makeup light. Electric blue eyeliner, a blush like Lakme Day Blushes and matte pink lipstick (try this linked post for recommendations). Let you hair down and have fun. All the best! And do share with us how it all went, people here would love to know.

Readers if you have any queries then dont shy away from contacting me. Check the contact page above for the details. Mail, fb message, tweet..whatever.

  1. Hey Sadhika this saree is simply gorgeous and is keeping up with the black&white stripes trend :) You should definitely go for it. I would suggest you to go for a bold and stylish blouse like a halter, corset, chinese collar with tear drop hole, etc. such blouses look chic with printed sarees..hope that helps :)

  2. I loveee this sari! My bhabhi has the same one, so I’ve seen what it looks like when it’s fully draped. She paired it with a black sleeveless blouse, and it looked amazing! It will make for a unique farewell sari – I say, go for it!

  3. Thanks a lot ladies… I had my farewell yesterday… and I did decide to wear this saree afterall with a Low-band neck blouse in blue and paired it with black peep toes and Zarkan earrings in the shape of a drop.. You guys are right.. the saree was indeed a nique choice for the occasion, for I didn’t see anybody else donning a printed saree, forget stripes :) And yes, Ansh, I did exactly that kinda makeup.. not a fan of foundation,compact.. so I just put on some of my mom’s pink Bourgeois Blush, Applied my Black Bourgeois Kajal on the waterline and Incolor Pencil on the Eye-lid.. and put some maybelline gloss on the lips. And I HAD So much FUN with the saree.. all the nervousness I had about wearing it for the first time vanished in 5 mins! :D
Thanks for all the advice, girls! And Ankita, Great suggestion regarding the blouse.. Will get a black halter neck blouse made to wear it formally! Thanks, VNA <3 ! :)

  4. Nice choice of saree.. simple and girly.. I am sure you wnt like to look as if attending a wedding function with those heavy saree and kundan/artificial diamonds earnings.. Go for some foiled earning in silver/colored stone or colored loops. Looks pretty and enjoy..
