Hey you guys! As someone who has recently had a change of heart regarding gloss, I was excited about finally trying out the NYX Megashine lip gloss in the shade Natural which I will review and swatch today. NYX has been a monarch when it comes to richly pigmented, smooth, glosses that don’t cost a fortune, and regardless of the controversy over their NYX face awards , they remain one of my favorite drugstore brands because of this very fact. So how did this fare for me? Read on.

NYX Claims: Kiss me quick! Our signature Mega Shine Lip Gloss delivers shine moisture and softness and envelops lips with glistening color. The finish is both creamy and steamy and ensures knockout glamour. Available in 39 sinful shades.

My Review of NYX Lipgloss Natural:

Price : Rs.475 which is in the middle of the spectrum with drugstore lipglosses.

Packaging : The packaging for the NYX megashine lip glosses is cute, especially the bow embossed into the cap. It’s sturdy, pretty basic and has the standard dough-foot applicator.

Fragrance : So the best way i can describe the scent of nyx megashine is, cough syrup. Quite literally, it smells strongly of sugar-ey , minty,  medicinal ,cough syrup.  With lipsticks, i’m not fussy over scents but when it comes to lipglosses , it’s one of their appealing qualities , and to be let down is a little bit of a con in my book. But if youre a fan of fragrances such as this, you’re in luck.

Consistency :The best consistency with lip glosses was the L’oreal liquid lipsticks, and nothing has so far compared. sadly, this is no exception.  It’s viscous and thick and pigmented , which means its a pain in the rear to evenly apply without the product building up in certain patches. I’m convinced that this is the norm with pigmented lip glosses, but still, not a fan. Other than that mishap, it’s smooth , buttery on the lips , just the right amount of tacky for a lipgloss and covers up any hint of fine lines and plumps the lips up with a lot of pigment. (Makes it probably the best lipgloss to get in a deep wine shade.)  Now, i like to use the lipgloss paired with very dramatic lipsticks,  in an effort to tone them down, and the consistency works with just about every lipstick that isn’t a moisture or a glossy finish in itself, making it a versatile product.

Pigmentation : I wouldn’t say this nyx lip gloss has opaque pigment or that it’s anywhere near a stain, but for a lipgloss, this is very impressive. the colour Natural does not settle in one singular spot (if you’re careful with applying it ) and it hides hyper pigmentation to a certain extent and the nude shade pairs well with any lipstick to bring it down a notch.  The shade Natural is a slightly pink nude, and goes on the lips a little lighter than it looks in the tube, which makes it disaster with indian skin tones. I’d recommend a brown based or a deeper nude so it doesn’t look ghastly. Do not get this shade in particular unless you plan on pairing the product, but the range in itself is worth looking into.

Longevity : The longevity of megashine is as average as any lipgloss. It starts to get slightly more tacky around 2 ours and wears off around 3. But the texture is smooth enough to make re-application less of a chore. The pigment is not a stain so as the product wears off, it will as well. paired with a lipstick , it lasts much longer though.

What i love about NYX Mega Shine Lip Gloss Natural:

• The price is afforable, especially when you think about how much L’oreal liquid lipsticks pinch the pocket . (although, they’re worth every penny!)
• The packaging is standard, but still cute and convenient.
• The consistency is divine! It pairs well with lipsticks , which is how i recommend using the product as opposed to using it solo.
• The product is pigmented, again, for a lipgloss, this is impressive. So you could definately look into getting shades that are more wearable.

What i don’t love about NYX Mega Shine Lip Gloss Natural:

• The shade in particular , worn solo looks a little ghastly. This is the only downside i can think of for the lipgloss.

Verdict? This shade Natural, If you plan on using it as a basic for changing up the versatility of the lipsticks in your collection , then it’s definitely worth it. As a nude? it’s not the best for our Indian complexion strata. The range entirely? from what i can gather, it’s one of the best available at this price point.
