The twenty first century woman is a go-getter. She is an all rounder, efficient at multitasking, juggling the many challenges of life. And all this work load and stress sometimes end up giving her puffy eyes and dark circles. So, I thought I would review the Neutrogena Fine Fairness Eye cream today for all you awesome ladies with super hectic lives.
Neutrogena Claims: Neutrogena Fine Fairness Eye Cream helps you get rid of under eye puffiness and enhaces the beauty of your eyes.Neutrogena Fine Fairness Eye Cream energizes skin around the eye area for brighter and fairer looking eyes.Apply morning and night on clean skin. Dab a small amount around the entire eye area and pat gently until absorbed. Natural minerals help to condition and energize the skin Mica visibly brightens the appearance of the eye contour area
My Review:
Packaging: Before all else, I would have to comment on its packaging. The eye cream has a small squeeze tube bottle, which was inside an outer sturdy box which, like all other Neutrogena products claims that the eye cream is Dermatologist Tested. The best thing about the product is the squeeze tube, which is white in colour and can fit in any purse.
Claims of the Product: The Eye Cream package stated that it will reduce dark circles and puffiness to achieve brighter and fairer looking skin. The special ingredients were mentioned to be yeast extract, natural minerals and mica. The Yeast extract has properties of reducing under eye puffiness, while the natural minerals are supposed to condition and energize the skin. The mica claims to visibly brighten the appearance of under eye area.
After 2 weeks of Use: I think two weeks of regular use is enough time to decide whether a product is doing wonders for your skin or not. And sadly, this product didn’t. Forget about the dark circles, even the puffiness had no effect after a fortnight. I had diligently used the product every night before going to sleep, and found no real change, except for the softening of skin around the eye right after applying the makeup, which any normal cream or moisturizer does anyway. Despite claiming that the mica in the product will visibly brighten the under eye area, the area around my eye remained the same. Since I had always had good experience with Neutrogena products, I wasn’t convinced after even a week, and figured maybe I am unable to understand the difference and continued for a second week. However, good eye creams do start making a visible impact after a week’s use.
I had also checked the packaging, back and forth to see if I am missing anything, but I found nothing to be mentioned about the amount of time you need to use it before seeing results. The box just stated that it was a daily eye cream meant for energizing the skin around eye area. I have no idea what energizing the skin around eye area means, if not making the area better in terms of puffiness and dark circles.
That being said, I don’t want to put down the product entirely. It does have a few good qualities, which took a lot of time and patience to figure out, which I will shortly list below. It’s just that the Neutrogena Eye Cream is unable to meet its claims. And I don’t think anyone buys an eye cream which claims to reduce puffiness or dark circles for any reason other than the ones stated on the packaging.

Conclusion- Neutrogena has a certain brand value associated with it. I can trust Neutrogena products to be good and reliable, and I won’t say my trust has gone due to just one product, which in all fairness might not have suited my skin, and might be working wonders for others. But, if you ask for my opinion, I would not recommend anyone to buy the fine fairness eye cream. It will be a complete waste of money if your objective is to reduce puffiness or dark circles, if what I experienced is anything to go by. Initially, you will find the skin to be softer, and if that is your only reason for an eye cream, you might go ahead with it. But let me assure you, any cream does that for your eye area. So, if you are looking for specialized eye care, this product isn’t the most reliable. The good thing about it is that it comes in a 15g package, so you won’t really be wasting a lot even if you discontinue using midway, which is what I did. And at Rs. 250, it won’t pinch your pockets too much either, so you won’t regret buying it if you want to try it out yourself.
