I am reviewing and swatching the much loved Nars semi-matte lipstick in the shade Schiap. Before this I never even dared to buy a bright pink lipstick with cool tones. But after hearing so much about this shade I decided to give it a try. Schiap is bright and bold! And now I have totally fallen for this shade. There are times when Reds and Oranges are too boring, Schiap is for those times when you want a change and a fresh look. Minimum eye makeup with a simple winged-liner looks great with Nars Schiap as the lips grab all the attention.
NARS Claims : A modern, semi-matte lipstick that provides full-bodied, velvety color.
Long-wearing, full-coverage finish
Rich, vivid shade range from neutrals to high-fashion hues
Patented blend of conditioners and antioxidants hydrate, nourish and protect lips
My Review:
Packaging: Nars Schiap comes in a matte black packaging which is considerably smaller in size than other local drugstore lipsticks. They have the same size as that of MAC lipsticks. The cap and the case of the lipstick shuts tightly with logo name written all over the cap and the shade name is written on the bottom of the case. The material of packaging is very good quality plastic.
Texture: I just love the texture of this lipstick. It is a semi-matte lipstick. It is neither too matte nor too creamy, just a perfect balance of both which does not dry out lips neither does the lipstick bleed. But the lipstick may turn into complete matte after few hours which may dry out lips a bit. It glides on easily and does not require lip balm unless and until you have extremely chapped lips. The lipstick being buttery tends to get collected in the inner side of the lips. So I recommend proper blending of the lipstick with a lip brush or just dab it with a tissue paper.
Color and Fragrance: Schiap is a bright pink lipstick with blue undertones, best described as Fuchsia. But if it appears too bright on your skin tone, you can dab it with tissue for better results. This color looks more flattering on lighter skin tones as compared to darker skin tones. It does not have any particular kind of scent or taste.
Pigmentation and Staying Power: Nars Schiap is highly pigmented and just one swipe is enough fort those hot pink lips. It stays for around 4 hours but the color fades away with meals as it is semi-matte and not completely matte. But even after fading it leaves a nice pink stain on the lips.
TIP: Keep rest of the makeup minimum with Nars Schiap or it may a look a bit too much as the color stands out. You can go for a simple winged-liner for best results.
Price: $26 that is Rs.1603. But I got it at a discount for Rs. 1307 from StrawberryNET.com
VNA Rating: 4.6/5
Dupes: Milani Rose Hip, Rimmel Kate Moss No.20
Would I Recommend? Yes. Definitely. I feel its one of the must-have lipstick in your stash especially for those Summer days. Inspite of the minor cons I just cannot say no this lipstick!! But, I may not recommend this lipstick to those who don’t like wearing bright lipsticks. Looking forward to try other shades too.
