There is something about a smoky eye that I just can’t resist. Every occasion that gives me an opportunity to do an elaborate eye makeup results in a smoky eye. Yes, all my latest eye looks have been more or less smoked out. Though I love doing some crazy eye makeup, the accompanying shade on the lips stresses me out more than the intense color on my eyes. So, I am in a forever search of pale pinks and nude shades. Milani Color Statement Lipstick in Fruit Punch which I will review and swatch today was a pick due to this reason. However, it did not turn out to be the pale pink that I was looking for. Instead, it is a gorgeous bright pink that looks equally beautiful with a simple eye. So, lets find out more about this lipstick.
Milani Color Statement Lipsticks comes in several shades categorized into four color families – Pinks & Corals, Reds & Oranges, Naturals & Browns and Plums & Berries. The finish also differs from vinyl, metallic, cream, pearl, matte and shimmer. Milani Color Statement Lipstick in Fruit Punch belongs to the Pinks & Corals family and is in cream finish.
Packaging: Milani Color Statement comes in a very classy golden packaging. The case is not a regular round one, but a square shaped. The name and the shade are mentioned on the bottom of the cap. I love that there is colored section on the bottom as well that certainly helps in picking up the right shade. This lipstick has a shiny mirror finish which catches the fingerprints easily.
Shade: Milani Lipstick in Fruit Punch is described as a ‘Bright Pink’ by the company. It is no doubt a bright shade, but still does not look too loud. Though the lipstick looks little warm in the bullet and the hand swatch, it comes out as a very neutral shade of pink on me. Not very cool or very warm. Generally, these kind of shades have a tendency to look chalky or wash you out, but thank goodness it doesn’t do any of these and looks super pretty as a bright neutral pink on me. I prefer to wear this with at least an eyeliner, otherwise it might wash me out.
Pigmentation: It has an intense pigmentation. Just one or two swipes are enough for the color to show on the lips. It layers nicely as well in case you want to increase the intensity.
Texture: Milani Fruit Punch is very smooth and creamy. Goes on very evenly and has a semi-matte finish with a slight sheen. Feels comfortable on the lips and does not dry them out. However, the lipstick transfers a lot. You will find everything that touches it carries the color on itself. The lipstick has a watermelon scent. It is evident when you apply it, but slowly fades away.
Staying Power: Milani Lipstick in Fruit Punch has a decent staying power. Even though it is creamy and transfers a lot, it stays put for 5-6 hours. However, it won’t survive a meal well. May leave behind a stain though. So, you definitely need to carry it with you for constant touch-ups.
VNA Rating: 4/5
Recommendation: Milani Color Statement Lipstick in Fruit Punch is an awesome lipstick for its price. I love the neutral pink and the creamy texture. Even if you have your favorite lipsticks, I think you really need to try these lipsticks and start with Milani Color Statement Lipstick in Fruit Punch. Highly recommended for the quality of the lipstick.
