This particular eyebrow pencil launch by Maybelline has made me very happy. I would tell you why. Firstly, Maybelline is one of the most affordable and popular brands in India which can be accessed by every one – from college student to office goers. Brows have become a ‘thing’, thanks to Deepika Padukone who showed us that thick, properly shaped brows can enhance your look tenfold. For a long time, black kajals or black brow pencils

were available in the market in an affordable price tag and I can’t even start blabbering on how unnatural and made-up it looked when used on brows. (Review of older maybelline brow pencil)

Finally, the Maybelline Fashion Brow Cream Pencil came out, with such an affordable price tag and that too with proper shades – brown and grey. I will be reviewing the shade Brown and here’s the detailed review on the eyebrow pencil.

My review of Maybelline Fashion Brow Cre am Pencil:

The Maybelline Brow Cream Pencil comes in a most decent pencil form. It has a sharpenable body accompanied with a transparent cap. The transparent cap enables you to see the shade, in case you bought both the shades. The end of the cream brow pencil is also color coded as well. They didn’t provide a sharpener (but the price tag is too inexpensive to ask for a sharpener). Overall, the packaging is decent, efficient and properly structured. The only thing I was expecting with the fashion eyebrow pencil was a small spoolie which would have made the pencil perfect.

Coming to the shades – the maybelline brow pencil comes in two distinct shades, namely, brown and grey. I got the shade Brown to try it out. I have dark brown-black hair and the shade brown suits me pretty good. It looks au natural and nothing overgenerous. The shade ‘Brown’ is a dark cinnamon brown which would suit fair to medium skin tones pretty well. The shade gives a very natural look to my brows and even if I go slightly overbroad, it won’t look ghastly at all.

The pigmentation is good but not something like a full coverage with the first swipe, which is good for the brows and beginners. It helps to correct the mistakes easily and slowly build up the product. You have to apply slightly pressure on the areas you want better coverage. In that way it is easier to control the shape and filling of the brows.

The formula of the cream brow pencil is thick and smooth but slightly waxy. Waxy texture works excellently for brows as it helps to tame the brow hair as well. These maybelline fashion pencils are definitely not creamy, buttery or ultra smooth, as opposed to the regular eye pencils. However, do keep in mind that these brow pencils are not rough or grainy at all.

It works perfectly for eyebrows and helps to achieve the desired shape and proper fuller look. Overall, I am happy with the formula, texture and pigmentation of the Maybelline Fashion Brow Cream Pencil. The formula is completely water proof and sweat-proof.

The longevity of the Maybelline Brow Cream Pencil is good as it stays on my brows for around 8-9hrs and after that I remove them. Also, it doesn’t make the brows uncomfortable as well. If you want the pro brow look, I would advise to use the Brow Pomade or any tinted brow gel. For the swatch though, I have only used the Maybelline Fashion Brow Cream Pencil. I am happy that Maybelline didn’t introduce it with an obnoxious price tag and it is suitable for college goers as well.

Overall – The Maybelline Fashion Brow Cream Pencil comes in a sharpenable body with transparent cap and available in two shades – Brown and Grey. The shade Brown is a dark cinnamon brown which would suit fair to medium skin tones pretty well and looks natural and fuller. The texture and formula is slightly thicker and waxy and works perfectly for brows. The pigmentation is decent and requires slight pressure to show up. It has a long wearing formula and completely water proof and sweat proof.
