Maybelline ColorShow Lipstick Red Diva: Review and Swatches

Review, Swatches and Price of Maybelline Color Show Lipstick in Red Diva

By Contributor: Debarati

Red lipsticks are now an inseparable part of our life. Of course I know I am not the only one who loves red lips from the bottom of her heart. I even sleep keeping my new red lipsticks beside my pillow, as I like to see them again and again before going to sleep! You believe it or not, but it’s true my girl. Anyway, today I am also going to review and swatch a new red lipstick from Maybelline ColorShow range called Red Diva.. Carry on reading.

Maybelline Claims: Maybelline Color Show Lipstick is a fashionable intense lipstick, which comes in chic to vivid shades. Maybelline Color Show Lipstick is highly pigmented giving bold lips.

My Review:

Maybelline Red Diva comes in a black plastic packaging. The cap shuts with a click and it is tight enough making it travel friendly. Packaging is no doubt quite simple but at this price we have no choice to complaint about all the downsides. The name and shade number of the lipsticks is written at the bottom of the tube. But one interesting thing is also there. Each lipstick has a band in between the cap and the case indicating the color family of that lipstick. There are four color families in this range- red, brown, pink and violet.

All color show lipsticks come with a very soft and creamy texture and this shade is not different from them. It also has a nice smooth and creamy texture which glides easily on lips without any tugging or pulling.

The lipstick has a floral smell which is not overpowering at all. Now let’s see the shade Red Diva. It is a subtle mixture of pink in red. It is a very flattering color and would suit almost all Indian skin tones. This is not a vibrant red nor it comes with a neonish tone to it. This shade has no shimmer in it and the finish is between glossy and matte.

Pigmentation wise this gains a quite handsome score. Two swipes give you an opaque color and all lip pigmentation is hidden. Light pink lips will need only one swipe to show a good color on them. It stays for about 4-5 hours which is good for a budget lipstick but this fades away if you have your meal. It leaves a subtle pink stain on lips after fading. Overall this is a nice lipstick to try. But it transfers to glasses or spoons very easily. So you should take care of it.

Pros of Maybelline color show lipstick Red Diva:

  • Very affordable
  • Quality is very good
  • Creamy texture
  • Doesn’t need a lip balm before applying it (dry lips may need it )
  • Lovely shade collection to choose from
  • Easily available everywhere in India
  • Packaging is travel friendly and the cap shuts tightly
  • This particular shade is red with pink undertone which suits almost all Indian skin tones.
  • Doesn’t contain shimmer in it

Cons of Maybelline color show lipstick Red Diva:

  • Transfers
  • Otherwise nothing as such ( please remember the price tag it comes with)

Price: Rs.299

VNA Rating: 4.5/5

Do I recommend? Yes, I absolutely recommend it. It is a very flattering shade and suitable for most of the Indian skin tones. I will also repurchase it as this is a favorite shade of mine. Red lip lovers must give it a try. And as it is very moisturizing, dry lips girls also give it a try. It is totally a steal at this price. Keep it up Maybelline.
