By Contributor: Priya

I am back again with another shade of the new Maybelline Baby Lips Lip Balm Spiced Up. Its the shade Berry Sherbet. If you read my previous review (which you must if you didn’t) you already know my craziness for lip products and the fact that I can never have enough lip balms. So let me tell you more about this newbie baby lips

in my humungous collection of lip balms. Let’s start with the review and swatches.

Maybelline Claims: Spice it up with Maybelline New York’s newly launched Baby Lips Spiced Up. Maybelline New York launches the all new Baby Lips Spiced Up, made for the Indi pop generation specially and developed to perfectly suit the range of Indian skin tones. With every application lips are reborn and feel supple, plump, moisturized, giving you intense care. Baby Lips Spiced Up comes in delicious flavors – Spicy Cinnamon, Berry Sherbet, and Tropical Punch that guarantee to delight. Pout in confidence this summer with the best lip balm in India, Baby Lips Spiced Up.

Here’s why you’ll love it:

  • – Deeper shades to suit sun-kissed skin tones

  • – Stronger, lip-smacking flavours

  • – Intense 12hr care

  • – Enriched with SPF 20 for sun protection

Shades Available: Berry Sherbet, Spicy Cinnamon, Tropical Punch

My Review of Maybelline Berry Sherbet:

I don’t know why cosmetic brands do this partiality with us Indians. Maybelline Baby Lips available in US and Canada and other countries comes in such an adorable packaging, like the Electro Pop range which was launched in India some time back. The Baby Lips packaging in India is sure cute, but not the best. Anyways, since the shade is super gorgeous, we can excuse Maybelline for this partiality.

Packaging: These pretty baby lips sticks are housed in a cardboard pack with all the details of the product printed on it. The packaging of the actual spiced up lip balm is like the regular Maybelline Lips, unfortunately not like the Electro Pop Lip Balms which I absolutely love. It’s basically a color-coordinated twist up balm stick with a little cap that shuts securely with a loud “click” sound. Oh so satisfying!! All in all, good packaging.

Shade: The colour of the lip balm in the tube is like a dark maroon-y brown colour – the perfect “mummy wala shade”. Thankfully, when applied on the lips, it turns out to be a slightly tinted brown colour with red undertones. This is my most favourite shade out of the 3 spiced up baby lips.

Texture: The texture is very light-weight yet super buttery and creamy and glides on the lips like a dream. It is as good as a berry coloured butter applied to the lips. Absolutely love the texture and its feel on the lips.

Smell: This baby smells exactly like a berry flavoured sherbet with some chat masala, that we make at home to greet guests. I kid you not!! Finally we have a lip balm whose shade name and smell match perfectly.

Pigmentation: About the pigmentation, I shall say that it’s impressive. This one is definitely more pigmented than the other Maybelline Baby Lips. It gives a beautiful brownish red tint to the lips.

Longevity: The lasting power of this Berry Sherbet shade is about 2 to 3 hours with light snacking, post which, re-application is necessary. I personally don’t mind reapplying it several times.

Quality: The overall quality of this maybelline lip balm is awesome. It does not claim to cure chapped lips and it does not do that, so I am absolutely fine with that. It does hydrate the lips until it is on the lips and also imparts a beautiful tint. What else does one want? Well…this sound pretty delightful to me!

Pros of Maybelline Baby Lips Berry Sherbet Spiced Up Lip Balm:

  • Adorable travel friendly packaging
  • Beautiful shade – My personal favourite out of the three
  • Appropriate fragrance
  • Super buttery texture
  • Feels pretty light weight on the lips
  • Contains the goodness of Coconut oil and Vitamin E
  • Custom made for Indian Skin tones
  • Fades evenly and does not leave a tint behind
  • SPF 20 (Big Yaayy)
  • Moisturizes the lips really well
  • Affordable (in spite of the price hike)
  • Easily available online and in stores

Cons of Maybelline Baby Lips Berry Sherbet Spiced Up Lip Balm:

  • 12 hours moisture?? Come on Maybelline!!
  • In spite of having a stronger tint, it won’t cover pigmented lips

Price in India: Rs.175

VNA Rating: 4.9/5

Where to Buy Online in India: amazon.in

Recommended? Absolutely!! Come on ladies, Maybelline has launched 3 pretty gorgeous shades! Do grab atleast one, I am sure you’ll love it

Repurchase? Definitely!! I will definitely repurchase this baby under three conditions – 1) If I lose it; 2) If I run out of it; 3) If the name of the product gets rubbed off the lip balm stick and it starts looking shabby (Please don’t judge me, I admit I am crazy!!)
