In the compact it appears a deep bronzy peach colour, but on application I would describe it the colour as peach infused champagne. The subtle shimmer and the hint of a peachy glow is so flattering that I have been told that I look like I have very healthy glowing skin! How I wish that were really true. Sigh! A slight application to the high points of the face like cheekbones, nose bridge, temples and cupid’s bow gives the skin a perfect highlight, without being overly shiny.

The MSF in Soft and gentle is a powder highlighter that comes packaged in a round compact with a clear cover and a push button clasp. It is travel friendly, neat and not likely to get messy. It is priced at Rs. 1800 for 10gm of product, which I would say is a really good deal for the brand and the quality. The clear cover on top is great because you get to see the product inside without having to open the lid.

A very important thing to remember is that moderation is the key. Laying this msf on heavy will not only make your face look shiny and unflattering, it will also become really obvious that you have done a ton of makeup. Also, using this product on the cheeks and

 the eyes and the shoulders will be super OTT. I would suggest that either have Soft and Gentle on the cheeks or on the lids but not both (unless there is a costume party and “Shiny Disco Ball” is the look you are going for – in which case please lay on the glitter by all means! )

This product blends very easily and has great pigmentation and colour payoff. The shimmer is finely milled, so it does not appear like shining sand smeared across the face, which is a complaint I have with several other highlighters. There is some fall out, especially when being used as an eyeshadow. However, the MSF is quite smooth textured and is better by miles from other bronzers and highlighters in its category. It photographs beautifully, looking completely natural.

Soft and Gentle could also be used as a subtle highlighter on the body as well. A light swipe over the collar bone, shoulders, décolletage looks beautiful without looking obvious. I find this is a great way to brighten up the way your skin looks.

I also love using this product as an eyeshadow.While it works brilliantly as expected as an eye inner corner or brow-bone highlighter, pack it on tightly all over the lid for a glamorous shimmery look. The colour looks beautiful with a matte brown in the crease. It looks bright, without looking over the top.

• There is slight fallout.

Conclusion: MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Soft and Gentle is my savior on dull skin days. It is easily the best in its category and I would recommend the investment into this MSF. It can be used on cheekbones, brow bone, as an eyeshadow and as a body highlighter too. It never looks OTT and gives you a healthy glow. It can be used for the upcoming Indian weddings and should definitely go into your bridal trousseau.
