Lioele Water Drop Aqua BB Cream – Summer Staple!

Water and I don’t exactly go well together. No I do bath you idiot. Okay let me re-phrase it, Water bodies and my body (:P) are not that friendly. Ironically, my favourite fragrance is aqua, my brother is a great swimmer and my best friend is in Indian Navy. So I’m surrounded with people who talk about nothing but the aquatic life. On rare occasions when I ask them for a favour, the only condition I’m given is “only if you agree to go scuba diving”…WTF! And as if this wasn’t enough..aqua has now entered my makeup life. Meet the Lioele Water Drop Aqua BB Cream.

lioele BB cream review

Lioele claims: The Lioele Water Drop SPF 27 PA++ is a light cooling BB Cream that acts like a moisturizer. When applied, it forms tiny water droplets which are immediately absorbed into your skin. The SPF 27 PA++ protects your skin from further sun damage and Aloe Vera helps lock in the moisture to prevent dryness. This BB Cream contains various botanical extracts which ultimately help in keeping your skin moist and your complexion healthy, while also helping in controlling oil and providing light to medium coverage.

Shade, consistency, coverage: The Lioele BB cream comes in only one shade which fortunately is a perfect match for Indian olive skin tones since this is relatively darker than other BB creams in the market and has yellow tones (will suit those around nc30-40). Now the consistency is very interesting. It is runny and after coming in contact with the skin forms tiny water droplets (as the description rightly says). So you can actually see and feel that you are putting on something very light and water based (which is a welcome relief in summers btw) and the blending can’t be more easier. I just use my fingers with this one and even a makeup beginner can blend this one. The coverage is light but build able. The first layer will just even out but you can add 2-3 further layers to cover up and it will never look cakey since this is very light weight.

It is moisturising and gives a semi-dewy finish. I only need to blot my nose area after 4 hours which is quite good. The scent is really funny but in a good way. I can’t decode the fragrance (which is infact driving me nuts!) but trust me it is not offensive..something powdery..or is it fruity?..I don’t know!

I so like the aqua blue tube by the way. I just wish the sun protection was higher but anyway I wear a separate sunscreen.

I used to think Missha Perfect Cover BB Cream (click for review) deserves the hype it has, but Liolele should be given some limelight too..go Liolele! Right now the only good alternative to my favourite Ponds tinted moisturiser (now discontinued :\) is this Lioele BB cream I’m raving from past 5minutes…which is perfect for summers btw.

So is it for you? Yes if you are looking for a light oil free BB cream. It is easy to blend and will suit most of the Indian skin tones because of the yellow undertones it has making it one of those few BB creams that suit darker skin girls. The coverage is light but buildable and will never look cakey. You can skip your moisturizer with this one. Perfect makeup for summers. If you love bb creams, you definitely should have this in your collection!
