After Milani Color Statement Lipstick in Fruit Punch did not turn out the way I wanted it to, I was on a search for pale pink for my smoky eye look. But I was lucky that I found the shade already in my stash. Lakme Enrich Satin Lipstick in 131 which I will review and swatch today is the exact color I was looking for and had conveniently forgotten about it. Ya, I know lot of you can relate to this situation.

The lipstick trends for this fall and winter, of course, included darker shades like maroons, reds, purples, etc. However, the surprising part was that the nude shades were also included in the fall and winter lip colors. I always assumed th at nude and pale shades are reserved only for warmer weathers; cold season requires a deep color on your lips to make everything else look vibrant.

My Review:

Lakme Enrich Satin Lipstick in 131 belongs to the Lakme’s Fantasy Collection which was primarily aimed at several pretty shades of pink. I think Lakme lipsticks are an affordable way to try out different shades with a pretty decent quality.

Packaging: One thing which these enrich satin lipsticks need as of yesterday is the change in packaging. Satin Lipstick in 131 comes in the same old boring packaging with the brownish maroon case. It has a golden band in the middle of the packaging. The name and number of the shade is mentioned on the cap. It becomes really difficult to pick out the correct shade while looking for a particular lipstick as there is no way to see the shade of the lipstick. It is travel friendly as the cap closes securely.

Shade: Lakme Lipstick in 131 is a very pretty pinky nude lipstick. It has some mauve undertones to it. This is the kind of lipstick that I was looking for pairing with edgy eye makeup. The color is not at all intimidating and looks very natural on Indian skin tones. The other thing is that when you pair it with a pale pink or a nude lip liner, it looks more beautiful. I love that it does not wash me out and looks very subtle. It is a perfect pink nude for fair and medium skin tones. However, it will definitely wash out deeper skin tones.

Pigmentation: Lakme Satin Lipstick in 131 lacks in this area. The pigmentation is sheer, but buildable. You can lower or increase the intensity of the color depending on the look you want. However, you will need more than a couple of swipes to get a decent color pay-off. If you decide to layer the shade, it does not look patchy or chalky. But I think since the shade is already a nude color, the pigmentation is not very bad.

Texture: Lakme Enrich Satin is a creamy and smooth lipstick. The texture is very light on the lips and feels moisturizing. But if you have severe dry lips, you need to exfoliate them well. Otherwise, it does emphasize the patches and feels very drying. The finish of this lipstick is satin with a frosty shine. You can dab the shine away with a tissue, if you feel like. But I prefer the slight sheen as it makes the color look natural. Since its creamy in texture, it may transfer a bit.

Staying Power: Enrich Satin Lipstick does not last for very long. The average wear is for 2-3 hours and fades away without leaving behind a stain. Wearing a lip liner helps in increasing the staying power though. However, in any case, it does not survive a meal.

Recommendation: Lakme Enrich Satin Lipstick in 131 is a very lovely shade of nude pink. It has some mauve undertones which makes it more trendy. I love the texture and the feel of the lipstick. The price and the buildable color can make me overlook the staying power. Definitely recommended if you are still looking out for that perfect nude.
