LAKME. Do I really need to introduce this brand? HELL NO!! Who doesn’t know about lakme and which Indian women doesn’t own a lakme lipstick.  What got hooked me to Lakme was their old nine to five lipsticks in the shade Bella Rose which is such a pretty pretty shade. And me back with their new 9 To 5 Lipsticks

– which are my go to lipsticks these days. The kind of crazy lipstick hoarder I am, I had to go buy more of these and I already have 7 of them! Today I will review and swatch the shade called Scarlet Drill which was my third purchase and basically which made me buy 4 more shades!

Lakme Claims: Lakme 9 to 5 brings you a range of shades that sit on your lips all day long. Enriched with Vitamin E; it conditions your lips & softens them with wheat germ oil. So, perk those soft, smooth lips with a touch of matte.

Firstly I just love love love the packaging… so elegant and so pretty. The rose gold packaging just makes me arrange them and keep looking at them. Ok DISCLAIMER I am not crazy! For 400 bucks I think lakme has done such an awesome job from the color palette to pricing to formulation of these lipsticks. When the SA swatched this shade on my hand, in my mind I wouldn’t think the name would be something like Scarlet Drill but something like orange kiss or burnt papaya! When I think of Scarlet Drill, I imagine something blood red so the name isn’t really apt.

Now coming to the color, it is more of a brick shade. Not too orange or reddish just that right brick color with slight orange undertones. I love the color and it would suit all Indian complexions especially darker skin. What I love the most about them is they are highly pigmented without feeling too heavy on the lips. It covers my pigmented lips with such ease. I feel they are very apt for day wear for college or office or simply on a day out. They have done an amazing job with the colors. With this range I am so sure every Indian lady will find a shade for herself! May be more than one!!

They are so creamy. Like a creamy matte finish but I wouldn’t say they fit the title of 9 to 5. On me they stay for like 5-6 hrs depending on what I eat. I feel for 400 bucks its too good. Everyone must give it a try.

Love -Why?

• The shade itself. Its a pretty mlbb brick rose shade.
• Creamy and soft matte finish.
• Highly pigmented.
• Good pricing. Totally in budget.
• Long staying. Stays on me for 5-6hrs.
• Non drying even though its matte.

Hate -Why?

• Some shades may look similar on lips because the colour palette is similar.
• Moisturization of lips is important.

VNA Rating: 4.5/5 (-0.5 it does not look good on dry lips)

Will I buy again? I already bought all the colors I liked and if i do finish this I will surely stock this up with many other colors from this range.

Why should you buy? Lakme 9-to-5 Lipstick Scarlet Drill is a budget friendly lipstick with which is long lasting has a creamy matte finish. The colour is a brick rose shade which is apt for office and college wear. This range comes in so many shades, you definitely should buy them. I am so so so damn sure you wont be disappointed.
