Lakme 9 to 5 Lipstick Pink Bureau: Review and Swatches

Lakme 9 to 5 Lipstick Review Swatches Pink Bureau

Lakme 9 to 5 Lipstick Pink Bureau

By Contributor: Agnirupa Acharyya

I have always had a kind of love-hate..err..hate-hate relationship with lakme. Since I had eyes I have seen their rotten maroon lipsticks, since I could smell I have had the misfortune of smelling their cough syrup smell and as soon as I grew up and had some money I vowed: no more Lakme in my life! And so it was that way mostly. But oh my god Lakme has changed! It has completely revamped the products with the 9 – 5 Office Stylist Range, introduced many new products (not to mention they have started robbing us as well!) and even I am forced to admit..yeahh they are good! Can you otherwise explain why a lakme basher is going around buying    not 1 but 2 of their new 9 to 5 lipsticks? Let’s review it.

Shade: Lakme Pink Bureau is one of those lovely muted classy pinks which do not need any introduction and every single complexioned lady starting from rosy fair to medium olive skin tones can totally rock this shade which attributes to this shade being currently the fastest selling one. It is a lovely warm pink with golden shimmer, which on lips is mostly unnoticeable and instantly brightens up a gloomy day.

The lasting power department badge is won by Lakme here as well as the lipstick turned into my best friend and stayed with me throughout my heavy duty lunch+date+shopping day and moreover, this fades gracefully and does not dry out the lips! These new 9 to 5 lipsticks have a faint fragrance which is extremely unobtrusive and fades within moments.

The texture! *sighh* I could probably write a book on it! Arre no guys don’t run away I won’t! The texture makes this lipstick range one of the softest, sexiest matte lipstick ranges and yes I am including some MAC mattes here as well which are quite drying! But these lippies are soft, great pigmentation in a single swipe, easy to apply even on dry lips without tugging and simply do not accentuate the fine lines/dry patches on lips. For Rs.400, the texture seriously beats all others hand down!

The packaging is classy! Shiny rose gold packaging with a golden tube and a tight click-lock cap makes it look luxurious and elite. You nailed this Lakme! The tight cap ensures travelling with this and it won’t get messy.

Let’s look at the photos and swatches:

The good things:

  • Pretty and travel friendly, rose-gold shiny packaging which screams class!
  • Great pigmentation, soft texture, easy to apply!
  • Smooth, creamy, non-drying matte finish.
  • Lovely warm pink color which will totally brighten up a wide range of skin tones!
  • Lasts on lips forever throughout the day and does not dry out lips!
  • Fragrance is not overwhelming.

The bad things:

  • No SPF (this is a setback for me, others may not mind)

So there we come to an end for today ladies. Hope you loved the shade!! Revisit this space for more madness on “lip thingys”! :P

Price: Rs.400

VNA Rating: 4.5/5  (In love!)

Do I recommend? Absolutely yes! Lakme 9 to 5 Lipstick Pink Bureau is a pretty matte rosy pink which would suit all Indian skin tones. I got my first lipstick exactly 2 days back and got my 2nd

today and planning my next very soon. At the pace I am going I will have to start eating them up to have space in my drawer. These lipsticks are quite budget friendly, very soft, lovely matte finish, very wearable shades, long lasting and really there is no reason why you ladies shouldn’t jump on them like me. Totally recommended!!!

PS – The tiny dent on my lipstck bullet was caused by the over enthusiastic SA who was literally preening when she brandished it to me and yes…spelt its doom *eye roll*
