Lakme 9 to 5 Lipstick Tea Break
By Contributor: Agnirupa Acharyya
As you guys can make out from the title, I have been bitten pretty bad by the Lakme 9 to 5 (strictly lipstick) bug and yes I have commited the sin again and poked my nose inside the pantaloons lakme counter (which BTW is horribly stocked but that’s another story) to check out..just check out the rest of the shades. Bass! It does not help that I am a complete sucker for neutrals and classic nudes and its very unfair of Lakme to stock such a fabulous range of lipsticks all in very similar shades. I almost picked up 3 more then sternly checked myself and picked 2 instead! (eye roll..ooh that was some resistance!). The one I am gonna review and swatch is named very aptly as Tea Break.
The color Tea Break is a beautiful pink based nude shade which sits so well on my lips that its difficult to discern from my lip color. What is the point of wearing a lipstick you guys ask? Well, it’s the even toning of lips, the classy polished feel and covering up of any pigmentation you might have which makes these nudes my type of color!! I am in love with this! On darker complexions though, the slightly pale touch may wash out some ladies so do try before buying!
The texture as we know too well is a soft, smooth, lightweight matte which makes your lips feel untouched and light. This is the feel which attracts me the most to these lipsticks in this season! The matte finish is very soft and non-drying and does not cling to dry patches/fine lines of lips even after fading, it does not parch my lips.
The lasting power is great and lasts through the day through 5+ hours easily.
The fragrance is light and soft and fades within moments.
The sexy rose-gold packaging leaves nothing unsaid as I proudly take them out from my bag to touch up and show it off. The cap is very tight and hence easy to carry about.
The good things-
1> Sexy rose-gold convenient packaging with a tight click-cap!
2> Smooth, soft matte texture which is easy to apply even on dry lips J
3> Lovely pink based nude shade which lends a classy polished touch <3
4> Lasting power is great and easily lasts through 5-5 hours on my lips J
5> Non-drying and does not accentuate fine lines/dry patches :D
6> Soft fragrance which fades quickly
7> Quite economical for the virtues these come with!
The bad-
Only my old grumble that it lacks SPF :P
VNA Rating- 4.5/5 <3
Do I recommend?
Totally yes!! I was confused among oak table, toffee nexus and tea break but the S.A insisted that Tea break would look the nicest on me and it does <3 it gives a nice neutral wash of color to my lips and I find myself reaching for it more and more J colorwise I think it resembles the very famous MAC Velvet Teddy but where velvet teddy loses, tea break wins :D the texture! I sold off VT as it made my lips look very parched and wrinkled even though I loved the color. This fulfills all my wishes!! Hurray
