Lakme 9 to 5 Crease Less Lip Balm Rose Affair Review
First impressions are certainly not last impressions. If they were I wouldn’t be drinking green tea right now, wouldn’t be patiently waiting for Better Call Saul and wouldn’t have liked this crease less 9 to 5 lip balm from Lakme Reinvent in the shade Rose Affair which I will review and swatch today. I was sorta mocking this range when I first put up the press release along with 9 to 5 crease less lipsticks but look at me now, paying no heed to bad reviews everywhere else. Although I have to admit the advertising is a little misleading but barring that its a nice lip product. I’m also testing the crease less lipsticks so watch out for that as well.

My Review:
The packaging of the crease less lip balms is very gizmo and techy. No please don’t expect some green light as soon as you open it but its a little different from the usual plastic tubes lip balms come in.
The shade I have is Lakme Rose Affair. Its a milky coral peach shade. But you only get the shade you see on the tube after swatching it 4-5 times. It basically has very low pigmentation and you have to keep layering it to get some colour. The problem is you can’t layer it on your lips unless you are aiming for super sticky and glossy lips. On my lips it comes off as a regular non tinted lip balm. On pigmented lips it looks stark nude and washes them out. So if you have non pigmented lips you might see a hint of something milky and peach.
I was honestly surprised when I first tried this. I hadn’t expected much from this but anyway went ahead applied on my severely chapped lips. And magically it healed everything. Within minutes my lips were super soft. I normally expect such kind of moisturization from my NiveaLip Butter! So yaaayyy in the lip balm department. It moisturizes and hydrates your lips and stays on for around 5-6 hours.
About the “crease less” claims I guess what they mean is that it settles on your lips and fills all the lines nicely so you get even looking glossy lips. And I didn’t even notice the shimmer until now, so its not visible in real. I can’t say about the other shades. I quite like the shine it gives. Its less waxy and balmy and more juicy and slurppy!
My only grudge with it is that it doesn’t give any tint which defeats the point of bringing it in different shades and calling it a tinted lip balm . Plus it looks a little milky nude on lips which I personally like since it suits my skin tone but I can see it washing out girls who are NC 40 and more.
Swatches in natural light. Not putting up lip swatches because it doesn’t give any noticeable tint to lips
Pros of Lakme 9 to 5 Crease Less Lip Balm Rose Affair:
It heals dry chapped lips in a jiffy
Keeps my lips moisturized for around 4-5 hours
The texture is thick but it never feels sticky
The shimmer is only visible on camera. In real you hardly notice it
Cons of Lakme 9 to 5 Crease Less Lip Balm Rose Affair:
It goes colour less on lips. Don’t expect any tint.
When you layer it to get some colour, all you get is a pale nude shade which might wash out darker Indian skin tones
Price: Rs.400
VNA Rating: 3.5/5
So is it for you?
Its a good lip balm which instantly heals and moisturizes chapped lips. Although the whole tint thing is a little misleading and I don’t see anything special in it apart from the moisturizing properties. Treat it like any regular good quality lip balm but don’t expect a tint. You can try it if you have this urge to try new products because its not a bad product but not a must have.
PS – Talking of Better Call Saul, are you excited? I secretly hope for Mr.White to be a part of it. If not, I will settle for Jesse. Yo biaatch!
