IIFA Awards 2012: Best and Worst Dressed

While the IIFA Award night is scheduled for tonight, I thought of doing a review kind of thing of the various premieres, press conferences, fashion shows, etc that happened over the whole week in Singapore. That’s where the whole of the Bollywood is right now btw leaving Mumbai viraani and sunsaan. I love doing red carpet posts and wanted to put up something different anyway after the whole Cannes overload last month!

Nargis Fakhri in Anaiika saree: Okay this has to be my favourite look of the event. The armour inspired blouse, electric blue saree, high pony with a pouf, pouty lips, minimal jewelry…things I LOVE. Don’t miss the lapel on the shoulder. If I ever get to walk a red carpet (the chances are very slim btw!) I can see myself doing something like this.

Bipasha Basu in a Shivan Narresh 9yards. Ummm…I don’t know how to react. One word phrase that can best describe her: IN YOUR FACE.

Bipasha chose a light blue off shoulder dress while visiting a zoo during the day. The thin cord at the waist and multi-coloured bangles complete the look. Its good when you start..but the moment you start going down and reach the feet..ugh!

Bipasha walked the ramp for designer Sunnet Varma in a pink gown. Though the photo is here not to speak of the gown but of the photography. Like the angle. (Mental note: next time take the photos from below to look tall and grand)

Chitrangada Singh

Chitrangada Singh in a Pratima Gaurav sari. The red border and fuchsia pink blouse totally compilents the off white sari. Like the whole look. I’m a Chitrangada fan anyway.

Neha Dhupia, Ayushman, Chitrangada Singh

Chitrangada in a tangerine dress from the Dior Spring Collection and Louboutin nude pumps. I love tangerine. I love Chitrangada. But sometimes fashion defies the rule of math: a+b≠c. #Epic fail.

Kalki Koechlin and Abhay Deol

Kalki Koechlin: I don’t expect much from Kalki ever. FACT. And most of the times she turns up too oompa loompaish for my taste. BUT the white embroidered suit she wore for the premiere of Shanghai (the movie is pathetic btw) got her some points. I’m infact in a search for a nice white/cream salwaar kameez..so no surprises that I stopped and took notice.

Kalki Koechlin

Kalki Koechlin flaunted this Chanel gown. The dress has this Hawaii feel to it, don’t you think? The blue eye makeup takes this Hawaii feel to a whole new level. I love the back though. And the messy hair braid!

Kalki again at the press conference. The Nimish Shah looks flat and does nothing for her.

Dia Mirza in a blue Anita Dongre gown at the Shanghai premiere. Like the colour. Like the hem.

And here she looks straight out of her prom

Parineeti Chopra

Parineeti Chopra in a short grey toned Anand Bhushan dress. Reminds me of the recent Christian Louboutins collection inspired by Bollywood. So Shehensha-esque!

Priyanka Chopra

Could not find much pictures of Priyanka Chopra but found these. Can’t see much so I will reserve my comments.

Sonakshi Sinha in Shane Peacock dress. There is too much going on the dress #Fail

Not related to the event but spotted her in a short black dress a while back which looked good on her. Its VERY VERY rare that you would read something good about Sonakshi here at VNA.

Shriya Saran

Shriya Saran in a Pratima Gaurav sari (like Chitrangada). Love the back and the dewy makeup and that’s about it.
