Best Foundations and Concealers for Oily Skin

Greeshu says Hi, “I m from Ahmedabad. I came across your blog recently and love your DIY’s n makeup reviews. I need a favor from you. I almost have facial complexion same as yours. Also i have a very oily and acne prone skin. Can you do a review on best suited concealer and foundation. I tried Lakme absolute concealer and foundation but m not satisfied with the concealer, and the foundation that comes like a ball shape is still good. I get really bad sweaty and it looks too oily and i need to do touchups every now and then. And my snaps too looks oily. Really in need of help.

Please do it for me . Thank you xo.”
Hi Greeshu! That’s the most unique name I’ve ever heard…..well apart from me ofcourse! No makeup can keep you away from oil. But some can help in keeping it away for sometime. Here are my foundation recommendations for oily skin:

1. Mac Match Master Foundation:

The shade for you is 4.0. It works well on my oily skin. Looks natural and safe to use during the day. But a little expensive. Price in India Rs.2100.

2. Revlon Colorstay Foundation for Oily Skin:

This comes in a lot of variants but the oily skin one suits me a lot. Controls oil for some 3-4rs. And never looks cakey. Gives full coverage. Hands down the best drugstore foundation. Price in India Rs.745

3. Mac Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation:

It gives a matte finish with medium to heavy coverage. You can always touch up easily using the applicator that comes with it on a go. The best part is it never looks cakey or made up.

4. L’Oreal Paris Matte Morphose Foundation:

Its a mousse foundation with a super matte finish. Being matte you would think it would crack or accentuate dry patches but noooo it never does that! And it just stays on and on without melting or budging.

And now its time to talk of the concealers that work on my oily skin. Its better to use stick concealers since creamy and liquid concealers suit oily dry skin more.

1. Colorbar Instant Stick Concealer
:

best concealer for oily skin

Its one of the best drugstore concealers. Works well for spot and under-eye concealing both. Gives medium coverage and comes in 3 shades. Follow the link to see how it looks on me.

2. Avon Ideal Shade Stick Concealer:

best concealer for oily skin

Not the best concealer but very inexpensive. It gives super matte finish and I use it as an eye and lip primer too! Follow the link for my review and swatches.

3. L’Oreal Paris Infallible 16 hour Concealer:

best concealer for oily skin

Well so it doesn’t stay for 16hrs but it does stay good upto 10hrs or so. The coverage is pretty good and you get matte finish. For shade recommendation and how it looks on me just follow the link.

4. Revlon Photo Ready concealer:

I’ve not used it myself but heard some good things about it. It brightens up the under eye area and gives matte finish and medium coverage.

Other than that use blotting tissues to take off the extra oil very few hours. I recommend The Body Shop Oil Blotting Sheets. People if you have any suggestions than let us know in the comments below!

  4. I’m surprised to see that Oriflame is not listed here. I have tried many concealers and foundations and discontinued! :( Finally found something that I have currently using and kinda liking too much as well.. and its from Oriflame’s Studio Artist range …Studio artist concealer and foundation. Those who are fan of Oriflame products out here, must try this..

  5. Hiee All..
Even I was using this mac concealer, but not at all satisfied with it..
I have oily and acne prone skin, and after using this concealer more pimples busted out :(
My personal choice is to use a good foundation rather than concealer..

  6. Hello,
I have oily skin and terrible dark circles under my eyes. Most makeup creases around my eyes. For oily skin, I should have preferred stick concealers but that does not work for the undereye part. I don’t have many corrections to make on my face, except for faint acne scars which get camouflaged with the foundation itself. Could someone please help me out with this oily skin vs. undereye creasing problem? Also, what kind of applicator should I use?

  14. Today, I went to the beach with my kids. I found a sea shell and gave
it to my 4 year old daughter and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She placed the shell to her ear and screamed.
There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched
her ear. She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is completely off topic
but I had to tell someone!

  27. Finally, a cushion compact for people with oily skin! Lanc me’s formula is easily buildable and contains SPF 50. While the portable foundation is perfect to throw in your bag for on-the-go coverage, be warned that it isn’t quite as matte as some others.

  29. Since your skin naturally produces more than enough oil, invest in makeup products (especially foundation and blush) that are oil-free and noncomedogenic, which means they don’t clog your pores.

  30. Shine from your highlighter? Cute. Shine from the excess oil on your skin? Maybe not so much. The lightweight, oil-free foundation for acne-prone skin helps to keep your T-zone under control, while also dissolving oil and dead skin cells that get built up in your pores with its key ingredient, salicylic acid.
