Givenchy Le Rouge 205 Fuchsia Irresistible Lipstick: Review, Swatches and FOTD

Givenchy Claims: More than lipstick, Givenchy creates unprecedented Couture object of desire that envelops the lips with intense colour in one stroke.

My Review:

Givenchy launched 12 beautiful shades in this Le Rouge collection from which I grabbed #205 fuchsia irresistible which is described as “vibrant fuchsia” by the brand. The shade of the lipstick can be describe as a bright cool toned pink with red undertones and with slight mix of satin and sheen in texture.

Coming to the packaging, The lipstick is sheathed in metal and black leather, a material with iconic presence in Givenchy fashion shows.  The look embodies the romance and enigmatic poetry that mark the Givenchy collections.  But the leather packaging looks a little weird to me as the lipstick case and leather don’t match at all and the case is scented so I sprayed a huge amount of my favorite perfume on the case of the lipstick! The leather case is prone to scratches too as I saw a scratch that was accidentally got there due to my nails.

I personally love pinks..actually which girl doesn’t? The lipstick has a fragrance which although vanishes after few minutes of application but it tickles my nose a bit. Le rouge lipsticks are supposed to be semi-matte along with long wearing and are supposed to be rich in color. The formula of the lipstick is undoubtedly brilliant. The lipstick stains insanely. One swipe is enough to get full coverage on lips and it stains my lips evenly after fading.

The texture of the lipstick is creamy and hydrating. It hydrates my lips along with filling out all crease lines giving a plump and fuller look like to lips. I love the way it brighten up my face. It fades a bit after lunch and coffee but I don’t mind re-applying. It stays pretty for 5 hours on me with small meals but fades a bit with heavy meals and drinks. It is light weight and comfortable on lips for hours. No tugging or pulling but tends to bleed slightly if not properly lined by lip liner.

My recommendation: Well, I have a love-hate relationship with this lipstick as Givenchy le rouge lipstick although claims to be semi matte but I found it leans towards satin so it is definitely is not my choice of texture and I would warn all matte lovers this lipstick is definitely not for you but for all those who love the satin sheen finish on their lips then this is definitely for them. I personally love the lipstick only for the shades and the coverage it gives to my lips in single swipe so if you want you can try it in the store first before you buy it.
