How This Girl Refuses to be Photoshopped or Airbrushed and Makes a Statement!

colbie caillat try song

I just had to share this new video with you. In just a week this stuff has gone viral and here is why. Colbie Caillat in her new single “Try” from album Gypsy Heart Side says NO to Photoshop. It makes you stop for a while and think deeply about how we have set norms for beauty and what a real girl looks like.

In an interview to Elle here is what she said “When I shot the first scene with no hair and makeup on in front of an HD camera in my face, flashed with bright lights, everyone was watching. I thought, ‘Oh my god, I bet they’re all looking at my blemishes, thinking that I should cover them up, or that I should put some volume in my hair.’ But it also felt really cool to be on camera with zero on, like literally nothing on. And then when it got to the full hair and makeup, I actually felt gross. I was just so caked on.

I got the Try song lyrics for you:

Put your make-up on

Get your nails done

Curl your hair

Run the extra mile

Keep it slim so they like you, do they like you?

Get your sexy on

Don’t be shy, girl

Take it off

This is what you want, to belong, so they like you

Do you like you?

You don’t have to try so hard

You don’t have to give it all away

You just have to get up, get up, get up, get up

You don’t have to change a single thing

You don’t have to try, try, try, try

Get your shopping on, at the mall, max your credit cards

You don’t have to choose, buy it all, so they like you

Do they like you?

Wait a second,

Why should you care, what they think of you

When you’re all alone, by yourself, do you like you?

Do you like you?

You don’t have to try so hard

You don’t have to give it all away

You just have to get up, get up, get up, get up

You don’t have to change a single thing

You don’t have to try so hard

You don’t have to bend until you break

You just have to get up, get up, get up, get up

You don’t have to change a single thing

You don’t have to try, try, try, try

You don’t have to try so hard

You don’t have to give it all away

You just have to get up, get up, get up, get up

You don’t have to change a single thing

You don’t have to try, try, try, try

Take your make up off

Let your hair down

Take a breath

Look into the mirror, at yourself

Don’t you like you?

Cause I like you

  1. amazing!!!!!!!! All women..and i mean all..should dress up and apply makeup because they like doing it…and have fun doing it..not because “somebody” will not like you in your original skin…i wear sport shoes and jeans to a party if i feel like…i should decide what i wear on my face and on my body,..others don’t :D

  2. Awesome! America and some other cultures put a lot of makeup on,….and most of this is done so that people like you.
This is infiltrating India too,.a growing economy.People who put on lot of makeup everyday hide behind it.Too much Botox ,facelifts just distorts the view.Dyeing hair in 60s is a lie….you are getting older ,60s is the time to accept complete white hair.

    • i dont wear makeup daily but i guess the girl is trying to say that you do whatever you feel comfortable AND beautiful in. there shouldnt be any norms for beauty

  3. I Think it sends across an important message to certain girls who need it,I Mean I blog part -time but I never wear makeup in real life, it’s always just a moistuizer for me forget hair straightning/curling but on the other hand , there are also girls who feel they cannot step out of home without a face full of makeup…it certainly is the norm for girls in first world countries such as US,UK, It is almost unacceptable if a woman/girl is not wearing makeup, straightened hair….so this certainly sends across the right message.

    • there is nothing wrong with makeup. the problem starts when you do it to please others and not yourself

      • you got me wrong babes….. where did I said makeup is wrong? I LOVE makeup n have a blog to prove it :D :D
I just said In first world countries girls NEED to wear makeup when they turn 11-12 because otherwise they do not look ”presentable” according to western society and will be bullied, called ugly etc.

In India/Pakistan etc most girls wear makeup to please themselves and not others but I know some girls of my age(16-17) and they wear makeup all the time to please their boyfriends ! O_O That is when it’s a problem

Lol haha that was so not what I meant! I Meant is you should not wear makeup or dress a certain way to please others.

  4. Wow…and the lyrics are amazing! I don’t wear makeup to please anyone but I guess this song addresses highschool girls who get carried away by all the drama and do all sorts of crazy stuff to fit in!
