Not so long ago, I chanced upon the Faces Glam On Lipstick line. I had been scouring the mall for a light shaded lipstick to match another brand I have.  I went through the basics – pinks, mauves, nudes..until the salesperson showed me this concealer- like lipstick sitting in the extreme corner of the shelf. Even though my hand was covered with swatches I tried to find space to swatch this strange shade. Also I felt bad for this lipstick for being shoved away in the corner like that. The swatch was of a shade called Esoteric which I will review and swatch today. Never have I been mesmerized by a swatch of a lipstick. A LIPTSTICK! The shade seemed alright, quite close to what I was looking for. But the salesperson had me at the name of the shade. Never have I been in a rush to come home only to look up      the mean ing of a word. Esoteric  means something that’s intended to be understood only by a few people. The word is synonymous with ‘obscure, ‘enigmatic’, ‘cryptic’ etc. Call it what you will, this shade shows up a tad different shade in different lighting!

My next task was to use the word Esoteric in a sentence – I just had to. The lipstick is very esoteric in shade. The reason behind the name sounded a bit esoteric to me. There! Before I go on a roll, let me tell you why I like this particular shade besides its name.

Faces Claims: Rich, vibrant and long stay colours ; Vitamin E enriched to keep your lips soft and supple ; Effortless glide over lips for a smooth and even application.

Packaging: The packaging is exactly like any Faces lipstick – black and silver details. Very average looking lipstick.

Shade: The hard part now is to describe the shade Esoteric. From the pictures you will see that it resembles a concealer stick. However when you apply it, flecks of pink/peach come through and you get a subtle mix of pink and peach colours. On my hand, it looked light pink but when I applied it to my lips, it looked like a neutral pink at one point and also light peach in another light.

This applies effortlessly but takes a few swipes to get the desired colour especially if you have pigmented lips. When the lipstick is freshly applied it has a slight amount of gloss to it which with time wears off. It feels quite balmy on the lips and does not dry them out. I have very dry lips and this lipstick did not make me feel uncomfortable. Moreover it survived an entire meal but stayed on only for a couple of hours.  If I were to describe the smell, it would be somewhere between sweet and plastic.  But that is only if you are sniffing from the bullet. Once you have the lipstick on, the smell will not bother you.

Pros of Faces Glam On Lipstick Esoteric:

• Feels light on the lips
• Will suit fair to medium skin tones
• Does not feather out of the lip line
• Not drying at all
• Can be worn with or without a liner
• Easily available
• Leaves a subtle tint on the lips

Cons of Faces Glam On Lipstick Esoteric:

• Frequent application is required if liquids are being consumed
• Needs a few swipes on the lips before the colour pops
• Will not suit very pigmented lips
• Will not suit darker Indian skin tones

Do I recommend? Faces Glam On Lipstick Esoteric is a subtle pink peach shade. Definitely recommend! I personally find myself reaching for this lipstick every now and then. It goes with a smokey eye or just a kajal and liner. It suits most occasions and is not drying. I will definitely get this again as I have quite fallen for this shade.
