You must have seen my first post on the new Elle 18 lipsticks. I did a collective swatch post on 7 of the 12 Elle 18 Color Boost Lipsticks. Since a lot of you wanted to see how they look on my lips, I am gonna review 2 shades from the same collection today. I will review and swatch the reds that I got from the new Elle 18 collection: SUPERLICIOUS RED, RED PASSION.

Elle 18 Claims: A blast of colour with a punch of cocoa. The intense moisturizing core in the centre protects and cares for your lips.

My Review of Elle 18 Lipsticks:

PACKAGING: The packaging looks extra cute but the material is a little flimsy. And I guess not very reliable when travelling. In fact one my bullets even broke! Black plastic tube with hot pink accents and a cute girl cartoon stamped on it. But if you are not finicky about packaging then you don’t need to worry about it.

Elle 18 Color Boost RED PASSION Lipstick:

a very bright , vibrant red with a warm orangey undertone. This is one the most opaque in terms of pigmentation. Has a medium glossy finish, not to melting or shiny. It is just so apt for this summer, it is bright, it is happy and instantly perks up your complexion when you wear it. This guy is insane on pigmentation, like hats off, for the price that I pay for and the awesome one swipe-and opaque pigmentation that I get. It does transfer a little bit as it is a very pigmented yet an emollient colour. Saying power is also very good of Red Passion. It almost stays for about 3 to 4 hours and doesn’t bleed or accentuate dry/flakiness on the lips.

Elle 18 Color Boost SUPERLICIOUS RED Lipstick:

SUPERLICIOUS RED- a medium toned red, not very bright, with visible warm pink undertones. It is one those reds that is best for starters on red, or people like me, who aren’t very keen on wearing a red lipstick as it looses its red intensity when spread on the lips, and shows up more like a pink-red. This shade Superlicious Red offers more of a creamy satin matte finish. Gives opaque coverage in 2 swipes. Even though it is a bright colour but it is very apt for people who don’t really want to wear true red colours as it has slight bit pinkiness in it. And is very wearable across the colour spectrum where complexion is concerned. It is very emollient and tends to transfer onto cups and your outfits too some times. A very versatile shade, and a must buy from the collection. The application is smooth and non patchy, and the colour doesn’t bleed. The staying power is around 1-2 hours.

Pros of Elle 18 Color Boost Lipsticks Red Passion, Superlicious Red:

• Really really inexpensive, like waaat! 150 only, in fact on some online sites I did see it for just a 100 bucks.
• Really good pigmentation for the price we pay
• A really wide range of colour selections, great options for every complexion
• Doesn’t really dry out my lips as a few other drugstore lipsticks do
• Cute looking hot pink packaging
• A great option for college girls, or teens starting on makeup
• Has a cocoa butter core to it (though I don’t find it that hydrating enough)
• Red passion has a good lasting power.

Cons of Elle 18 Color Boost Lipsticks Red Passion, Superlicious Red:

• Flimsy and non reliable packaging, one of my bullets broke during transit.
• The lipsticks are too soft and tend to break easily.

Conclusion: Overall I would say that with the price point, the colour variety and pigmentation that we are getting is very good, it is that apt lipstick for college girls, or some school tweenies, who want to sneak a little bit into makeup. It has a coca butter core, which claims to nourish. These lipsticks don’t really dry out my lips as such, but nor does it hydrate them. One of the best budget lipsticks in India.
