Ok, I know I am bit late to review this primer since the Bourjois Flower Perfection range of foundation, loose powder and primer was launched in India way back in Spring 2012. But after reading Srishti’s post on Best Primers for Oily Skin in India, I was astonished to find that this primer was missing from the list! This has to be amongst the best primers for oily skin! So here I am with the review. Read on to know why I LURRVE EET so much!
Bourjois Claims: Correcting Airbrushed action for an instantly beautified complexion! The first step of your make-up routine for a smooth beautified complexion! Our compact, translucent primer evens out and refines the skin’s texture, hides pores, blemishes and fine lines, leaving the skin looking flawless. Its soft texture and airbrush finish leaves the skin silky and smooth and beautified! To be used alone or before applying a foundation for an easier application and long-lasting hold. And it’s good for my skin:
My Review:
I LOVE PINK. Period. Yes, totally! I was completely mesmerized when I saw the Bourjois Primer at the counter. I could hear the puppy-eyed cute pink pot say me, “Won’t you take me home?? I’m PINK!!” (PS – I end up gasping for air while reading the primer’s name each time! Bourjois.. Hello?!?! What’s wrong in naming products short and sweet?)
Anyways, I still got this primer even though I already owned the L’Oreal Primer which I had purchased just a week ago. As mentioned, I use this at the beginning of my make-up routine. The product itself is really smooth to touch. It glides on my face without any tugging and leaves it utterly smooth and velvety! Needless to say, my foundation spreads easily over this.
The instant effect I see with this primer on is that it reduces pores and fine lines quite well. I do have some small open pores near my nose and this shrinks them to an extent. My mom also uses this and I have seen noticeable effects on the fine lines near her eye area. This primer definitely holds my make-up in place for a longer duration! I have worn this during really hot summers and my make-up didn’t budge for good 4-5 hours (It’s a big deal considering the fact that I’m an oil tank!). However if you have dry skin, you will NEED a moisturizer before applying this primer. My mom has dry skin and without a moisturizer beneath, this primer flakes on her.
Apart from slight tanning, I don’t suffer from any major skin discolorations *touchwood*. The primer evens out the complexion to some extent but I doubt if it will cancel out any heavy skin discolorations or redness for that matter.
Swatches in natural light
Texture: The Bourjois Flower Perfection Primer has a solidified balmy consistency. Don’t freak out, thankfully it’s oil-free! Although no ingredients have been mentioned anywhere, I highly suspect the presence of silica since it has that velvety silky feeling like most other silicon-based primers. Those who are allergic to silicon-based primers, please stay from this! The primer is pale white in color with a pinkish tinge to it and has a faint floral fragrance which fades away after application. I need more than a pea-sized amount of the primer for my face.
Packaging: I feel most of the Bourjois products have a very feminine and dainty touch to it that most of us would end up buying the product just for the packaging! The primer comes in a pink-colored teeny round plastic pot with a screw cap. You will need to scoop out the product to use it. Even though I’m in love with the packaging, I won’t hesitate to say that the quantity provided is really less compared to other primers available in the market. But I feel less quantity helps you to finish up the product before it expires (just saying!).
The Upside of Bourjois Flower Perfection Translucent Smoothing Primer:
The Downside of Bourjois Flower Perfection Translucent Smoothing Primer:
Price: I got it for Rs.570. Prices have been hiked to Rs.710
VNA Rating: 4.5/5
Will I repurchase it? Yes surely! It’s a good value for money product.
The Verdict: Bourjois Flower Perfection Translucent Smoothing Primer does help in smoothing out the skin. Oily-Combination skinned ladies who need a primer to minimize the appearance of small pores and fine lines, then this is definitely a must-have product for you! But I won’t really recommend it for dry skin.
