Bourjois Color Boost Lip Crayon Peach on the Beach
By Contributor: Agnirupa Acharyya
Have you burned in jealousy as one after the other bloggers abroad flaunt the new yummy new Bourjois launches of 2013- the bronzing primer, the color boost lip crayons, the color boost glossy finish lipsticks, the maxi delight bronzer? Have you gnashed your teeth and outstretched your hand to snatch them through the screen? Err..maybe you are not as demented as I am but I surely did! So when God sent me on a Europe trip (ok sorry Dad I know you did) and destiny led me to the mall nearby (hell no! my nagging led me there) I pounced on the Bourjois counter gleaming with the new launches and made sure I had snagged at least some of my craved
things. And I just could not pass by without getting these chubby cuties could I. I picked up the lightest of all the shades- Peach on the Beach. Oohh what a sexy name! That’s what the review and swatch today is on.
What Bourjois says- A LIP CRAYON BURSTING WITH VIBRANT COLOUR AND IRRESISTIBLE MOISTURE! With its melting formula, Color Boost leaves a radiant veil of colour on the lips with just enough shine and mo isture to enhance each shade. A new generation formula that provides a bare lip sensation thanks to its light and non-sticky texture. With it silk extract formula, Colour Boost brings comfort and hydration to your lips for 10 hours*. Its waterproof colour and SPF 15 make Colour Boost both practical and beautiful!
Available in 4 luminous, easy-to-wear shades:
- Red sunrise
- Fuchsia libre
- Orange punch and of course,
- Peach on the beach
The color peach on the beach is a pinkish coral color which is so pretty , girly and bright. It was the shade I had always lusted after from the online swatches and on myself too I loved it the most and picked it up. It is the perfect pinkish coral for the summer- not too bright or neonish yet it is very pretty and uplifts your look and complexion. On duskier Indian skintones though I am not sure if it will work so better to try it out before buying. The pigmentation is quite good-semi sheer to buildable which is the case mostly with the crayons since they have a balmy texture. Once layered though, it covers any lip pigmentation easily.
The color lasts on my lips through 4-5 hours, does not dry out lips after wearing off and comes with SPF 15 which is probably the highlight for me and sets it apart from the other lip crayons I have. I hate layering anything over a sun protection lip balm so the crayon scores on all aspects and easy to touch up as well- just swipe and go.
The texture is smooth, light and very easy to apply on the lips without any tugging and it gives the proper color in a couple of swipes. It is quite glossy which I love and very very light (I hate heavy balm like textures). It is very hydrating, non-sticky and does not accentuate fine lines on lips.
The packaging of the crayons is a photocopy of our Revlon just bitten kissable lip crayons with a chubby cute colored body and corresponding plastic cap which makes it travel friendly J the lid is too tight though and I partially damaged my peach on the beach as soon as I opened it.
Let’s check the photos and swatches:
The pros of Bourjois Color Boost Lip Crayon:
- Travel friendly and touch up friendly chubby crayon like packaging.
- Light, glossy, smooth and easy to apply on dry lips.
- Gives a sheer color in 1st swipe which can be built up to cover lip pigmentation.
- The shade is a lovely pinkish peachy coral perfect for brightening up any look.
- It is very light yet hydrating and leaves lips supple and smooth even after wearing off.
- Lasts for a long time on my lips easily about 4-5 hours!
- Has SPF!
- Light fruity smell which is not overwhelming at all.
The cons of Lip Crayon:
- The Price – Rs.78 is kind of steep for a sheer lip crayon but what the hell if lakme can steal 800 bucks for their pop tints we will buy Bourjois even more.
- The 10 hours lasting claim is very silly and of course impossible.
Price- 785/- in INDIA *launched recently*
Here it was 10 euros but I got it on discount :D it cost me around 550 INR I guess
VNA Rating: 4.5/5
Do I recommend? If you ladies are still not tired of fat cute crayons *I know am not *_** then please please give this 1 a go :D it is better than Revlon for the SPF factor and of course better than Lakme as it delivers color and covers up lip pigmentation! Clinique I can’t compare as I have not used and for that price I certainly won’t use -_- this Bourjois one comes in 4 yummy shades in a glossy finish, good pigmentation, buildable, has SPF, is hydrating and lasts quite long <3 it is already in counters in india so do rush and pick 1 up :D this particular shade is definitely a favorite and I have been wearing it since the day I bought it <3 the perfect pink peachy coral for me.
