The Body Shop Extra Virgin Minerals Loose Powder Foundation Swatches and Review

The Body Shop Extra Virgin Minerals Loose Powder Foundation

By Contributor: Isheeta

So, when Anshita announced that it’s going to be a Base Products themed review month, there I go running to my makeup storage boxes, open many a drawer, turn around stuff in my handbag, to maybe come up with a foundation (by chance) or any powder makeup (see, most foundations give my rosacea-prone sensitive skin horrible rashes and bumps. So foundation shopping has turned mundane for me and I skip it altogether!). And out comes my shining star – The Body Shop Extra Virgin Minerals Loose Powder Foundation *bright-eyed*

The Body Shop Claims: This feather light powder base gives a radiant, natural-looking finish and can be built up for extra coverage. It is non-comedogenic and suitable for sensitive skin. Made with 100% ultra-fine, ultra-pure mineral pigments, this long-lasting premium loose foundation powder applies evenly and blends easily to give a natural-looking complexion with a radiant finish.

  • Buildable coverage
  • Radiant finish
  • Covers imperfections and fine lines
  • Dermatologically tested
  • Contains SPF 25

Instructions to Use: Tip the pot upside-down so a little powder is deposited in the lid. Work the powder into our Mineral Foundation Brush. Tap off the excess and apply to the face in circular motions. Reapply to build coverage.

This TBS loose powder was those “replacement-for-some-other-OOS-product” kinda purchase. I went looking for the Extra Virgin Minerals Cream Compact Foundation and since it was out-of-stock and I had to leave for a mini vacation I picked this up. I got this in Shade 208 : Golden Vanilla .

I pretty much knew how these worked, after working with the Revlon ColorStay Aqua Mineral Finishing Powder for almost half a year then. Remove the sealed flap, sift! sift! sift!, pick up the amount on your preferred choice of brush (I use my Bourjois Kabuki for it), tap out the excess, blend in citcular motions towards hairline. Reapply for more coverage. Done!

So after I did that, how did I feel? Angelic? Mind, VS-like angelic? Hot? Grossed out? Phhtt?

I felt “light”. No, not the floaty-in-the-air wala… more of a nio-makeup-challenge wala. It was easy to blend, settled in fine, covered up my “porous pot” of a skin well, added a very “Victoria’s Secret-ish kinda glow/radiance”, wasn’t cakey and layered up well. I honestly, just loved the soft glow my skin seemed to emanate. It looked as if I was eating right & healthy, had gorgeous skin, could fool my mum and elders that I had “mera doodh/dahi/badam/kela” diet and well, just looked Nice!

It held up my sebum barriers for a good 3-3 ½ hours before giving in. Not the floody kind. But definitely, one cannot do without blotting sheets with this. I did see some product getting transferred to the aforementioned sheets but nothing to pass-out on. It did NOT give me any sensitivity issues, no break outs, no rash, no hives, no scaling, no burns. Just pure cocooned love. You can totally skip bronzer with this. Or even highlighter. Or buy a shade lighter to use up as highlighter or a shade darker for your bronzing needs. However, I’d advise one to use a light hand with it. I did notice, a heavier coverage led to more oiliness later on in the day.

Overall, a mighty good pick for those who like their base light and nice.

Loose Powder blended on my skin

And here is how the foundation looks on my face

The heart-heart points about The Body Shop Extra Virgin Minerals Loose Powder Foundation:

  • Light, easy texture.
  • Blends in a jiffy!
  • Mesh sifter to control product. No talc-bottle-like plastic-y holes.
  • Adds a very soft, oomph! –ish glow to the skin
  • Contains indiscernible shimmers to add to the radiance factor, and completely non-comedogenic. (I noticed the shimmers while picking on the swatch. Why would I do that?? Weird!! I know!
  • Sensitivity raided gals, Thumbs Up! With this.

The Dump-worthy points about the Mineral Foundation:

  • Product transfers while blotting. But that can be dealt with, no?
  • The fall-out is * tut-tut * bad

Price: Rs. 1395

VNA Rating: 4/5

Do I recommend: The Body Shop Extra Virgin Minerals Loose Powder Foundation is great. Like it floaty and soft for makeup, yuss! Go for it. Or you could pick the cream compact or liquid variant, too. But this one acts as a loose powder cum foundation. Totally recommend.
