Bobbi Brown Sheer Lip Color Orange: Review, Swatches

Review, Swatches. Price of Bobbi Brown New Sheer Lip Color Orange

By Contributor: Mansi

Winters have finally gone and its time to say hello to Sun Dresses, Hot Pants, Cotton Clothes, Iced teas and for the Diva that you are some pretty amazing Summer Shades when it comes to lipsticks and nail paints too! Well guess what? Looks like Bobbi Brown agrees. Now what do they say about great minds thinking alike? Yes ladies, its time to rush to the nearest Bobbi Brown stores to check out the Sheer Lip Color New Hot Spring 2015 Collection launched this March which consists of 3 limited edition playful vibrant colors guaranteed to make you stand out this season: Orange, Berry and Pink. The one I will be reviewing and swatching today Number 24 Orange.

Bobbi Brown Claims: The sheer lip look of the season-introducing a lightweight formula for lips that delivers an effortless wash of colour plus nourishing shine. The best part? Luxurious butters and oils improve the overall condition of lips, instantly and over time. Glides on smoothly and evenly for hours of feather-free wear. In a range of creamy, glossy shades (the hardest part is having to choose)

My Review:

Packaging: To begin with the packaging of bobbi brown lipstick is pretty standard and easy to use. It has a sleek, shiny black, click open case with theimprinted on it.

Shade: Bobbi Brown Orange as you can see from the picture is pretty vibrant and pops out. The lipstick as the name suggests, is Sheer and just one coat of it is enough to give your lips a translucent sheen of colour. Very nicely pigmented, the stick is a dream to use and simply glides on the lips which can be accounted to its formulation as it consists of Shea Butter and oils which also claims to improve the texture of the lips over a period of time.

Not only does it provide a nourishing shine to the lips, bobbi brown sheer lipstick feels light on the lips like how a balm or a chapstick would. The product is totally Fragrance and Flavour free.  Once applied the lip color lasts for about 4-5 hours and can survive light meals in between.

How To Wear: The color Orange despite being vibrant is good for everyday use since the texture is sheer and one swatch results in a nice sheen over the lips. The colour looks darker in the bullet as compared to when applied which also is the case for high gloss/high sheen lipsticks. If you are looking for more color, you can simply swipe the product 2-3 times on your lips and tada you are all set for an evening out!

Suitability: Since the colour is Vibrant Orange, it would suit people with Fair to Medium Skin Tones. If you have a Darker Skin colour, you should opt out for Burnt Oranges rather than Vibrant ones.

Availability: The sheer lip color is available in various Bobbi Brown Stores in New Delhi. Alternatively, one can also find a few of Bobbi Brown Products online on Flipkart or Snapdeal however, these websites usually do not have the complete collection, stock only limited products and most of those are not authentic. I would advise you to take a trip to one of their retail stores and I assure you, you wouldn’t be disappointed.

Other Shades Available: Bobbi Brown has an entire range of Sheer Lip Colors which include a wide range of pinks, nudes, corals and oranges however, the latest from that collection are the Limited Edition Orange, Pink and Berry (Purple-ish Hue)

Pros of Bobbi Brown Sheer Lip Color Orange:

  • Extremely Pigmented with Rich Colour Application
  • Balmy Texture which helps improve lips
  • Lightweight on the lips and does not break into lines
  • Fragrance and Flavour Free
  • Good for day and night wear
  • Easy to wipe off – does not leave behind color

Cons of Bobbi Brown Sheer Lip Color Orange:

  • Availability could be a concern
  • Can be a bit heavy on the pocket

Price: Rs.2100

VNA Rating: 4.5/5

My Suggestion: This sheer lip colour has definitely made it to my Must Have list ! Not only is it easy to apply and feel like a treat on my lips, it also gives me the perfect color thanks to the pigmented texture. I have used this a number of times and I completely support its claim of improving the lip condition. For those of you with dry lips, this lipstick is a total saviour as its sheer and not only helps in hiding cracks but also helps reducing them by keeping your lips soft and supple. On the downside, the Bobbi Brown lipstick does not last very long but I wouldn’t call that a con since sheer or glossy lipstick are usually not for long wear. A little expensive on the pocket however you shall definitely not be disappointed with this baby as it definitely does its job and more apart from being the perfect Summer Shade. Since it’s a part of the Limited Edition, I suggest you run for it before they are out.

  • This shade is too pretty, looks wearable too and also quite heavy on the pocket :)

    • Hi Shailja ! I agree, the color is too pretty. The perfect shade for Summer & Spring. But since its a Limited Edition, I believe it will only hurt the pocket once :D :P

  • The color is so beautiful! Indeed if I am spending so much on a single product, I would pick up this kind of rosewood kind of color so that I can wear it every day and enjoy it to the fullest.

    • Pink is definitely next on my list, Nivedita ! The sheer lipstick by Bobbi Brown have a shade called Tutu which is exactly like what you described above. Already putting aside money from my paycheck for that one next month ! ;)

  • Love the color! sheer products don't suit my pigmented lips but this looks very pigmented!!

    • Believe me Lana, the pigment is to die for ! It does not feel like you are wearing lip color. Its like applying a soothing tinted balm on your lips :)

  • I have always wanted to try a Bobbi Brown lipstick but agree with you on the burning hole it creates on the pocket!!

But you think this one is a worth a buy? For a regular college student like me?
Just asking for a suggestion :)

    • honestly if you dont have the budget then you can find good dupes of this in drugstore brands

    • I completely agree with Anshita. College going people tend to experiment with different styles and fashion and I believe you can skip this one and instead settle for a dupe from some other brand. Though the pigment might not be the same, you might find colors which are similar :)
