Bobbi Brown Lipcolor Salmon Review and Swatches

As you all know the very raved about Bobbi Brown makeup products are available in Delhi (oh you lucky delhites!) while your poor makeup freaks back here in kolkata are just left seething. I had never expected to lay hands on a Bobbi Brown lipstick, at least not so soon. Thanks to my lovely friend who made it possible for me to own this lovely peachy nude shade from Bobbi Brown Lipcolor in Salmon. Let’s start with the review and swatches.
Bobbi Brown claims: Bobbi’s original formula treats lips to rich color with a soft-matte finish. Infused with Vitamins E and C as well as Beeswax, it also moisturizes and comforts lips. Soft Rose featured in InStyle Magazine (April 2013). Martha Stewart Living names Brown Lip Color an “iconic lip color that is trustworthy and spot-on” (May 2013). Check all the shades here
My Review:
The color Salmon is indeed a pale pretty natural peach color which is the ultimate dream of smokey eye lovers to compliment their heavy eyes and for the peach lovers to go with their soft breezy daytime looks. It does look too light in the bullet and I was so scared at first that it would wash me out but thankfully it does not. It looks very natural and classy and I can blindly pair it up with any look and dress.
The texture is very smooth and creamy to apply and requires no tugging or pulling even on dry lips. Being a pale lipcolor however it is advisable to exfoliate and moisturise lips adequately otherwise it does accentuate fine lines a lot.
After sometime, the lip color settles into a semi matte soft finish and lasts for about a couple of hours maximum since it is such a light shade!
The fragrance is yucky strictly IMO and smells so plasticky. I hate lipsticks which smell horrible.
The Bobbi Brown original lipsticks come in an extremely sturdy and classy packaging- a squarish black body and golden tube to house the bullet. I haven’t dared to try and drop it yet but am sure it will survive.

The pros of Bobbi Brown Salmon Lipcolor:
- Sturdy classy black and golden packaging which is travel friendly too.
- The texture is smooth and creamy,applies easily.
- The color is a true peachy salmon color which is neutral and lovely defining the smokey eyes amazingly well, yet does not wash you out.
- It settles into a semi matte texture after sometime and lasts for about 2 hours.
The cons of Bobbi Brown Salmon Lipstick:
- Has a tendency to accentuate fine lines and dry patches.
- Horrid chemical smell.
- Very pricey!
Price: Rs 1800 huh!

Do I recommend? Bobbi Brown Salmon Lipcolor is a milky peach shade that would work well with smokey eye looks or just as a light day time shade. Umm..for a makeup freak itching to get a bobbi brown lipstick then yes maybe I do recommend. But for the cut throat price of Rs.1800, horrid plastic smell, poor lasting power and a cute salmon color which… cummon can be found quite easily at least at half the price in our very own MAC
