Makeup cleansers are an integral part of our routine and no-one should ever try and ignore their power. I like my makeup cleansers to be effective in one swipe types. I mean, I cannot literally swipe and swipe my eyeliner to remove it. For long I was using the Lakme makeup remover, then shifted to MAC cleanse off oil and now when I was given this opportunity to try this Biotique Bio Almond Oil Soothing Eye and Face Makeup Cleanser which I will review today, I was all game. Biotique is a brand known for their herbal and chemical free compositions and who would not want to include herbal products in their routine.
Biotique Claims: This soothing cleanser is blended with nourishing almond, safflower, sesame, neem and staff tree oils to dissolve heavy face and eye makeup easily and gently. Leaves skin silky-fresh.
Ingredients: Kusumbhi oil 2.5%, Arandi oil 27.0%, Neem oil 1.8%, Soya oil 15%, Badam oil 3%, Surajmukhi oil 12.45%, Malakanguni oil 0.75%, Til Tail 37.49%
My Review:
Packaging: The packaging of this cleanser is similar to other cleansers and hair oils by Boutique, a simple, no fuss plastic bottle which neither leaks nor oozes out too much of cleanser.
If you’ll see the ingredients, this cleanser consists of all the oils only, thus is meant for normal to dry skin types. Though this is named as Almond Oil Cleanser but the major quantity is that of Arandi and Til oil which, imo, are one of the thickest oils available. Therefore the texture of this Bio Almond Oil Eye Makeup cleanser is quite thick, like a hair oil and colour is similar to that of Rogan Badam Shirin- sunset yellow.
Because of the thick texture of Biotique Bio Almond Oil I was quite wary of trying this cleanser on my entire face and began with trying this on my eyes. I poured few drops of cleanser on a cotton ball and swiped over my eyes coated with eyeliner, eyeshadow and kohl on waterline. In one swipe it was able to take off entire eyeshadow and some of eyeliner. What I noticed was that cotton ball had soaked in lot of cleanser and to thoroughly remove the eye makeup, I had to apply lot more of cleanser thereon than normal.
Next I thought of using the Biotique Face & Eye Makeup Cleanser just like MAC cleanse off oil. I took some cleanser in my palm and with fingers started massaging it onto eyes and Voila! It worked great. If not better than MAC cleanse off oil then not less than that also. Within seconds it dissolved the entire eye makeup, though during the process I looked completely messed up but 1 swipe of clean cotton pad and everything was taken off. I even used this to remove the kohl on waterline and it worked well there too. I take a Q-tip and dip it into the cleanser and swipe over the kohl. Not once did I experience any burning sensation (unlike Lakme bi-phase makeup remover) and the kohl was easily removed in 2-3 swipes. Quite impressive this small bottle is!
Just for review purpose I used this to remove my face makeup as well. Though it worked well here too but it left a greasy layer on my face and I had to immediately rush to use Neutrogena cleanser to get that squeaky clean feeling. Thereafter I use this only to remove my eye makeup.
For the demo herein, I have used mac liquid foundation, 2 long stay matte lipsticks, 1 long wear eye shadow and lakme absolute kohl ultime – one of the most stubborn and long wearing eyeliner I have used. I used just 4 drops of Biotique Face & Eye Makeup cleanser to remove all these from my arm and you can see the result. This is just with 4 drops and little massage and 3 swipes thereafter with clean cotton ball. You can judge for yourself how effective this cleanser is!
Price: Rs.149 for 120 ml
VNA Rating: 4/5 (-1 for the greasy layer on face)
Do I recommend: Definitely yes! It works just as good as MAC cleanse off oil and is like 1/10th its price. For the oily skinned girls, I would suggest them to use this just as eye and lip makeup cleanser but the normal to dry skinned gals, this product is just awesome. Go get it Girls and am sure you’ll not be disappointed.

This is indeed awesome. During winters, I use this on my whole face. But rest of the year, I limit the application to eyes only. Works really well.
I don't mind the greasy residue as long as it doesn't sting the eyes which most of the cleansers tend to do for me. Great review!
Would love to try this out!! :D
Awesome product, I personally vote for cleanser which will be little greasy. I don't know i just feel such products remove makeup easily
I have used this, I just dint like the greasy feel apart from that its really good. Might pick up again. Lovely review :)
sounds like a great remover. I use organic almond or coconut oil al the time to remove my maakeup.

Finally I have spotted a good make-up remover for a decent price.
I am currently on Revlon's eye and lip makeup remover.
Surely buying it once the Revlon one gets over.
