Who Wore What at at IIFA 2016 Red Carpet in Madrid
With celebrity style getting minimalist as well as avant garde with every passing year, boy, IIFA awards 2016 was definitely nerve wrecking. It set some serious style goals for us this year. Our bollywood celebrities are stepping up their style with every year that passes and this year definitely had some eyes popping with awe and confusion. From pastels gowns to bold burgundy lips, we saw it all. There was a balance well maintained in the silhouettes and pastel embroidery with dark make up was huge this year. Let VNA break down the style game of some of the best dressed and worst dressed actresses at the 17th International Indian Film Academy Awards ceremony held in Madrid, Spain on June 25th.
Red Carpet Dresses at IIFA Awards 2016:
This woman right here is our queen. Deepika Padukone is our style God. Her sense of style is crazy! She can carry off just about anything, from her daring Swapnil Shinde gown to the delicate Sabyasachis. Incorporating capes with a godet skirt is something we have never seen before and she’s absolutely killing it. The turquoise in her jewelry perfectly complements the look and we love the minimal make up with just the smokey eyes. A big thumps to our queen! The award for best dressed actress goes to Deepika ofcourse .
Make up? Check! Hair? Check! Outfit! Check! But something just does not seem right. The outfit makes her look short and although the nude pumps are meant to elongate her legs to look taller, it just doesn’t work for her body type. This outfit would suit a triangle shaped body while Sonakshi Sinha has a rectangular body type
. But we love the make up and the hair, kudos to that! (Ps: We absolutely
love her Zara Umrigar metallic green gown, slaayyiinngg!)
3. Bhoomi Pednekar
If Disney had movies in India, that’s how our princesses would look. She looks absolutely stunning! The pastel gown is not overpowering at all, hence letting her glow take over. It’s definitely her color and we absolutely love the Riviera necklace, it goes well with her Shantanu and Nikhil gown. The burgundy lipstick, the hair, we love it all! It’s so minimalist, yet so powerful. Bhoomi Pednekar, you go gurrll!
4. Richa Chaddha
IIFA 2016 has been a stylish event with beautiful gowns, but certainly not on the right people. Sonakshi Sinha and Richa Chaddha are two bollywood actresses at the green carpet that seem to have the same issue, this gown makes her look so short! She’s such a beautiful woman but the gown just does not work for her body. The long flair almost cover her legs making her look stocky. Although, her fringes definitely add softness to her structured face which we like!
5. Daisy Shah
Daisy Shah has surpassed expectations that we had from her at iifa awards ceremony this year! She looks beautiful in this gown. It’s so elegant, it fits the pretty woman like a glove and she’s carrying it so well. The outfit elongates her structure and she looks like an absolute goddess. The slick hair and bold lip works very well with her outfit, the silver danglers she’s wearing works with the outfit, specially the pearl at the end of it. A big thumbs up for Daisy Shah!
6. Shilpa Shetty
No. No no no. This does not work. It’s such a risky outfit for a iifa awards ceremony, it almost reminds us of Bella Hadid’s Cannes outfit. It’s too tight, the fabric is too thin, it’s revealing. This red carpet dress is almost ready for a wardrobe malfunction. Thank god for the sheer lacing on the top with the gold piping. Yes Shilpa Shetty definitely has the figure to carry it, if only it wasn’t this tight and flimsy. Probably this fabric could be used for JUST the pleats in front, not the entire outfit. Her makeup could have been bolder, it’s too safe. The earrings are almost invisible and her face definitely lacks that oomph.
Bipasha Basu wore a gorgeous Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla dress on the green carpet and we can’t stop going gaga over it. She looks majestic! The beautifully gown adds volume to her structured body and balances out her sharp shoulders. We love the color, the silhouette, if only she paired it with a pair of diamond studs, the earrings aren’t keeping up with how majestic her entire outfit is. Definitely the best dressed lady at iifa this year.
8. Dia Mirza
Dia Mirza is one of the most beautiful women of Bollywood and she surely has her style in place on most occasions. On most occasions. Sadly, IIFA 2016 wasn’t one of them. She looks beautiful no doubt, but it’s just not her color. The pastel shade makes her look pale and the fall of the gown is really flat, making her look heavy at the bottom. The choker neckline is quite distracting and the earrings don’t seem to work with the look. We hope to see her in form next time.
9. Aditi Rao Hydari
Aditi Rao Hydari is my woman crush. She is so cute oh my god! I mean, just look at her! This bollywood actress looks absolutely adorable. Everything about her outfit at iifa is perfect
, she is perfect, her earrings are perfect, makeup is perfect, her jeweled headband is perfect. The colours complement her skin and her eyes perfectly and we’re absolutely crushing on those earrings. She makes us go aaaaahhhh! She’s just perfect. Period.
Priyanka Chopra is our queen, she is no doubt, but what happened? She looks so old in this Schiaparelli gown at the iifa awards ceremony! The color is taking away years from her and it’s so safe considering PC’s style. The make up is stunning, so are the earrings, but the gown is such a let down. She looks really old and it doesn’t seem to work. What a bummer.
11. Sayani Gupta
Sayani Gupta has entered Bollywood and is absolutely slaying it. Sonam Kapoor, watch out. She’s probably the first in Bollywood actresses to sport a hooded gown at iifa awards and she is killing it. Her hair, her make up, her gown, those heels. Wow. She looks perfect! The colour suits her so well and the burgundy lips just elevate the entire look. She is definitely setting red carpet goals for all the bollywood newcomers out there. Literally, everything is perfect. A BIG thumbs up.
12. Lara Dutta
Yummy mummy Lara Dutta definitely has her style in place but this time, we are confused. The fringes, we love, the beaded embroidery, we love, the shoes, we love, but what’s with the silhouette of this blue dress? It just loses all of her curves! The panels look great but the fringe seems to overpower it all. It’s a little too much, if only it were tighter on her. Oh and where’s the make up? We love the au naturale look that’s going on and the hair, but it just doesn’t work with her outfit. Better luck next time maybe?
