Avon Glimmersticks Eye Liners Review and Swatches: Textured Teal, Majestic Plum, Saturn Grey, Twilight Sparkle (Diamond)

Review of AVON Glimmersticks Eye Liners Textured Teal, Saturn Grey, Majestic Plum and Glimmersticks Diamonds Eyeliner Twilight Sparkle

 By Contributor: Arshi

Ever wondered how life would have been without colors? No reds, no yellows, no blues, no hues..everything plain black and white! Indeed life would have been mind-numbing and stodgy with so much achromaticity all around us! Thankfully we’ve been blessed with colors and hence with makeup! Here I am with colorful review and swatches for you all – the AVON Glimmersticks Eye Liners and Avon Glimmersticks Diamonds Eye Liner

in shades Twilight Sparkle, Textured Teal, Saturn Greyand Majestic Plum.

AVON Claims:

  • Super long wearing and easy to blend.
  • Automatic eyeliner for precision lining and defining.

My Review:

I had got these AVON eye liners almost 2 years back when one of my friend kept belauding these. Since it was my first attempt with colored eye liners, I went with these as they are  were super affordable. AVON Glimmersticks Eye liners come in many shades and finishes – Glimmersticks being matte and Glimmersticks Diamonds being shimmery.

(P.S – AVON has recently launched two more variants: Glimmersticks Chromatics Eye liner

and Glimmersticks Brights Eye liner).

The shades I have with me are Textured Teal, Saturn Grey, Majestic Plum and Twilight Sparkle.

Packaging: These come in a black plastic body in a retractable pencil form which twists both in and out. The shade is mentioned at the end of the pencil. The cap shuts tight so you can carry it in your bag carelessly.

Staying Power: Once set, these are smudge proof and waterproof. You will need an oil based makeup remover to completely remove it. On my oily eyelids, these stay on for more than 5 hours after which there is slight fading. However, on my waterline these stay for barely 2-3 hours (tried just for the review!).

Swatches in natural light

Texture and Pigmentation: They aren’t the creamiest eyeliners I’ve come across but they aren’t hard either. The texture is somewhere in between. Nonetheless, they apply smoothly on the lids without tugging. However, they aren’t creamy enough to be used on the waterline. Pigmentation is moderate; you need a couple of swipes for the color to show up.

left to right: Textured Teal, Saturn Grey, Majestic Plum, Twilight Sparkle

Twilight SparkleThe most beautiful shade amongst all!! Twilight Sparkle is from the Glimmersticks Diamonds range. The shade is a dark blue base with royal blue shimmers in it. The shimmers are fine and don’t feel gritty or OTT. Absolute favorite!

Textured Teal: Textured Teal is the most misleading shade name! The color is nowhere close to teal; it’s more of a blackened khaki green shade. Nevertheless the shade is pretty and it would suit Indian skin tones really well.

Saturn GreyI wanted a dark grey shade so I ordered this one. But Saturn Grey is more of milky-grey sans any shimmer. Unequivocally, it doesn’t suit my dusky skin tone (Hence no EOTD). Least favorite of mine!

Majestic PlumThis is a beautiful dark purple almost aubergine shade with a matte finish. In my opinion, Majestic Plum is quite close to Colorbar I-Glide Pencil Prunella. The point of difference being that the latter is more warm and intense than the former. This is the only shade which feels a bit dry on the lids.

Tthe Upside of AVON Glimmersticks Eye Liners:

  • Available in many shades and finishes.
  • Comes in a retractable pencil form.
  • Travel-friendly packaging.
  • Smudge proof and waterproof.
  • Long-lasting.
  • Applies smoothly on the lids.

The Downside of AVON Glimmersticks Diamond Eye Liners:

  • Limited access to the brand.
  • No ingredients mentioned.
  • Pigmentation could have been a little better.
  • Texture isn’t very creamy.
  • Not suitable for waterline (Especially the Diamonds range since it contains shimmers).
  • The shimmers are a bit difficult to remove.

Price: Rs.299 each

VNA Rating: 3.5/5

Will I repurchase it? Yes. I have already repurchased Twilight Sparkle! The Glimmersticks Diamonds range is pretty good.

The Verdict: AVON Glimmersticks Eye Liners are long-lasting smudge proof eyeliners available in many gorgeous wearable shades and finishes. They are usually available on discounts so do give them a try if you have access to the brand.
