So, today we are going to discuss about oil blotting papers. One may think, why blotting paper out of the blue? Ask those girls with oily skin, when the excess oiliness on their face turns makeup a mess
Having an oily skin, I exactly know how they feel in those sultry summer days. Moreover, the humidity in many parts of India worsen the situation. No one wants to sport a shining glare on their face when photographed! I used to carry regular tissue papers with me which absorbed sweat well, but did nothing about the excess sebum. Lets see which blotting sheets or papers work the best.
Clean and Clear is quite a popular name in India when it comes to fighting acne or dealing with oily skin problems. The blotting sheets come in a slim little packet which easily fits into your tiniest purse. These soft silky smooth sheets do a great job in absorbing oil leaving no residual ‘film’ on the face. It never smudges the makeup but effectively removes dirt to keep the skin clean and prevents breakouts.
These come in four variants namely, Matte, Fresh Face, Green Tea and Tea Tree. These wonderful blotting papers not only help to make your skin look fresh and oil free but also have some extremely beneficial ingredients (as they are made of 100% pure pulp) to fight the skin problems and leave the skin rejuvenated. Also the matting effect is long lasting which means a pack of 50 oil sheets will go a long way.
Shiseido is one brand which never fails to amaze me with their extraordinary products, be it for makeup or skin care. The pureness oil blotting sheets also sound promising. These are highly suitable for sensitive skin as are formulated without Parabens, Sulphates and Phthalates. The papers contains a powerful oil-absorbing ingredient which absorbs sebum as well as lipid peroxide leaving makeup intact.
The Body Shop is always much loved for their skin care inventions and their “Tea Tree” range proved to be an absolute savior for the oily skin beauties out there. No wonder this range has got amazing beautifully fragranced oil blotting tissues infused with tea tree oil to fight acne while giving a wonderful clean finish to the face. It also keeps your makeup mess-free. Undoubtedly one of the best oil blotting sheets in India.
This is probably the most budget friendly option. These are odorless blotting papers without significant weight and claims to remove excess oil without causing any irritation to the skin. Hence, suitable for sensitive skin as well. The only downside is that you may need more than one paper to achieve the desired matte look.
These are pretty regular thin oil blotting sheets which matte the skin instantly without disturbing the makeup much. Easy to carry. Looks like this has nothing much to offer to the skin apart from the clean shine free look. Some might find it a bit expensive.
Neutrogena is one of the most trusted skin care brands in India. These sheets absorb excess oil without clogging pores and giving the skin a clean freshness which lasts well for up to 4 hours. Not very easily available in India though.
The above mentioned commercial blotting papers are definitely the most easy and hygienic way to keep the unwanted oily shine at bay. But in case you do not have access to any of the above or looking for an immediate super easy and inexpensive solution, you can design your own blotting sheets in no time! Get some butter paper or tracing paper (transparent paper used for tracing maps, drawings etc.) from a stationary shop. Fold the paper to a convenient size and cut it according to the shape you want. Put the papers in an empty compact case and you are good to go! Keep your hands super clean while handling the paper to ensure maximum hygiene as you don’t want skin problems due to the impurities. There you go! Be beautiful!
Beauty Formula also stocks some oil control tissues at New U stores across India but I don’t know how effective those are. Have you tried them? If nothing works then the butter paper is the best inexpensive option.
