Illamasqua Burst Eyeshadow Review, Swatches

When I hear ‘burst’, I can only think of the Domino’s cheese burst pizzas. Oooh just thinking of them is making my mouth water. Oooh the runny cheese running down my fingers while I’m in the cheese burst heaven. Thin crust, mexican farm veggies topped with black olives, chilly flakes, pepperoni and red pepper for me please! The other thing that comes to my mind after ofcourse the god sent cheese burst pizza is the Illamasqua eyeshadow in Burst. While I’m in the cheese heaven you check out my review of the eyeshadow!

Illamasqua Burst Eyeshadow Review

Illamasqua Claims: An explosion of highly pigmented Powder Eye Shadows in six bold shades.  Intense and long-lasting the easily blendable shades express every aspect of your humanity. Each of these glorious colours makes a statement that is as individual as you are. Highly pigmented, prepare for an intensity that’s not just colour-true but extremely long-lasting. Experiment and be bold.

The colour Burst is a pretty matte blue with hints of green. I’ve reviewed the Apocalips lipstick which is nearly the same colour..a pretty teal. This is on of those shades which you think of as ‘special occasions only’ but once you swatch and get a bit friendly, it earns a pretty nice position in your vanity. Think of fuschia lips and light blue green eyes. Gorgeousness is the word. This can make for a good crease colour or an all over pretty lid colour.

In terms of texture this is totally matte. So it can easily balance your shimmery eyeshadows. The texture even though is matte but not chalky. It is smooth and soft. Pigmentation is quite tricky. I get the best pigmentation with a dense brush and least with a sponge tip. The sponge tip just wastes the product. You have to pat them on for ‘burst’ of Burst on your eyes instead of swiping it. I still feel the pigmentation can be improved on. I use a damp brush for wet application and get best results with it. In terms of it easily wore for 6hrs on me without fading or creasing.

Expert TipsUse a long bristle brush for blending and a shorter bristle brush for precise colour placement. Mix Powder Eye Shadow with Sealing Gel for colour-intensification, and apply with an Angled Eye Liner Brush for unlimited eye liner opportunities. They can also double up as blushers or contours, whilst shimmer textures can be used as a highlighter on the eyes, face and body.

 Price: Rs.1200 (£15.50 or $20)

So is it for you? Yes if you are looking for a blue eyeshadow that’s not just plain blue but muted blue with hints of green. It doesn’t look stark on the eyes and blends well with the rest of makeup. Its matte, soft, lasts for 6hrs without creasing and blends easily. I just wish it was a little more pigmented for the price you pay.

Post contains a press sample. All opinions are my own, as always.
