11 Best Eyeliners in India: Brands, Comparison, Prices (Waterproof and Smudgeproof)

Top 11 Eyeliners Brands in India Drugstore version: Waterproof and Smudgeproof

By Contributor: Aditi

Not just for this post but in general also, where I just like to steer clear of the drugstore lipsticks specially Indian brands like Lakme, eyeliners from the budget drugstore brands really do fascinate me. My all time favourite liquid liner is from L’Oreal and pencil eye liner from Colorbar and Revlon. I have observed as per my usage that the eyeliners from the inexpensive brands like Maybelline and Lakme last longer and are more smooth to apply and glide easily as compared to the snob brands I have tried like bobbi brown and MUFE. So lets get into the list of best eyeliners in India. The order I have placed them in is according to the swatch sequence, but if asked to pick out just one favourite out of all I would say I love them all!

1. Revl on Sparkling Eyeliner:

This is really affordable and the colour I have is cool toned deep brown and has silver glitter particles, that is very subtle and doesn’t make your eyelid look like a disco ball, stays for about 7 to 8 hours without smudging, but if you keep rubbing your eyes like crazy you might end up being a raccoon. Price: Rs. 440

2. Lakme Eyeconic Kajal Liner (GREEN):

Now this is one bad ass liner, you apply it and you forget it, even if you come back from a trip to the arctic circle, you will still find it in place, super super long wearing and smudge proof, can be used on the waterlines too. Price: Rs.200 and comes in 5 shades

3. Maybelline Colorshow Liner (NOBLE PURPLE):

Quality as smooth as the eyeconic liner from lakme , just that it has little specs of glitter in it. No tugging or pulling while application, glides on well. Can be used on the waterlines too, the wear time is about 6 hours, and is waterproof, not as strong as the eyeconic from lakme but fair enough. Price: Rs.325 and comes in 5 shades. Really good for a Smokey eye base.

4. Lakme Eyeconic Kohl (BROWN):

Okay I know I have cheated here. I have included the same range from lakme in a different colour, but trust me girls these liners need special mention. Specially these two shades, green and brown. Its such a beautiful brown colour with slightly warm under tones and goes on matte. I lloovvee it, my super super favourite of all times and trust me on my words you need some hardcore eye makeup remover to get rid of these pencils completely. Price: Rs.200 (comparison with maybelline colossal )

5. Colorbar I Glide Eye Pencils:

I love these like simply love these, they are as smooth as say AUDI R8, super soft but not soo soft that it crumbles. Has beautiful shade range and variation of finishes, from matte to glitter to metallic. Retails for 450INR. Perfect dupes of MAC pencil liners. There is a secret you have some awesome dupes of Technakohl liners from MAC in here too.

6. L’Oreal Color Riche Le Kohl:

Fancy name and fancier game, this is one good delight on the eyes. I would have given a 100 if it had been longer wearing. It glides on really smooth and comes in about 4 colours. Also good for a smudged smokey look. Price: Rs.350

7. Sephora 24 Hour Contour Waterproof Liner:

Big name and ever bigger games. Its the eyeliner that would stay on till eternity if you don’t use any makeup remover. Glides on like winds on the cloud and as soft as little baby unicorn tears. But its melting soft so you need to be very careful with application. Comes in a wide variety of shades and is waterproof. Many MAC dupes are found in here, has mattes and metallic both. Price: Rs.550

8. Revlon One Stroke Eyeliner:

Comes in unicorn shades, That’s  it. I cant define the texture in words. Until you use it you cant really understand in words what the texture is like. The least i can say is DREAMY SMOOTH AND SOFT. Just the longevity could have been more, stays for about 4 to 5 hours. Retails for 500 INR.

9. Lakme Absolute Kohl Ultimate:

Apart from the bobbi brown long wearing , this is the only black liner that I have till now. It comes with  a sponge tip at one end and the cap has an inbuilt sharpener, a total package. Great for the easy way out smudged Smokey eye, is super long wearing and gives about 6 to 7 hours of wear without raccoon eyes. Price: Rs.700

10. Maybelline Vivid and Smooth Eyestudio Eyeliner:

THIS is the weirdest colour of liner that I own. Itsa  frosty lilac colour, looks really pretty when smudged on the eyes with the combination of a dark brown colour, not that lloonnggg wearing, but gives a satisfactory stay. Comes in an array of bright weird colours. Price: Rs.350

11. NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil:

Okay i know this was suposed to be a 10 best post but since I cheated with two colours of the same eyeconic from lakme, I thought of juggling in one more eyeliner that the world raves about. Literally if you know anything about youtube makeup tutorials you neeeeedd to know about this, specially the shade MILK from this range is world famous as a clean white pencil that is used as eye shadow base. Even tough I don’t have it in MILK, the shade I have is GOLD which is the most beautiful golden colour. Perfect for the single wash of colour all over the eyes. Its not frosty not weird in texture, has a metallic finish and when applied all over the lids, goes on super duper cloudy smooth and looks like molten gold on the lids, amazing. For a beautiful eye look that’s perfect for on the go, you can just have a clean wash of this gold pencil all over the lid and in your outer V and crease. Just take some cool toned dark brown eye shadow and blend it well into the crease area and outer corner of the eye, pack on some heavy hell mascara and girl this is one classic look that is never ever going to fail. Whether you are a beginner or an eye shadow freak like me this look is the easiest to create and looks equally flattering on all skin tones and hardly does it need any skill. Oh and I forgot to say it retails for 380 INR. Comes in a wide variety of shades .

All of these are nearly waterproof as you can see I have included a picture of the swatches after running them through water also and all of them stay put in place. For the performance they deliver, all of them are well priced and really affordable. Poor people like me find these very helpfull and IZZAT-BACHAOING because lets be honest, a girl ain’t got enough eyeliners through out her life and ain’t nobody got money to buy all the MUFE and bobbi brown and MAC so these drugstores are life saviors and entertainers too.

Hope you guys like my compilation on the best eyeliners in India. And do throw in your recommendations too in the comments section so that Anshu and me can add more to our already available galore of eyeliners. And if this isn’t enough then many TENTALIZERs are on their way to VNA headquarters.
