Top 10: Best Stick Foundations Available in India for Oily, Combination and Dry Skin
So for today’s post i’m going to be talking about the top stick foundations available in india, but high end, medium range and drugstore range. Now, i am in LOVE with stick foundations because of their practicality, their travel-friendly and compact packaging, and the fact that if it’s a good stick foundation, it can doubled as a concealer in troubled times. Stick foundations are perfect for oily to combination skin because once set, it doesn’t budge. If you have dry skin then try very creamy stick foundations but honestly liquid foundations work the best for dry skin. While oily and combination skin should try mousse or stick foundations.
Most of these are my tried and true, since i used to be allergic to liquid foundations and went through tonnes of these. Also, they don’t give you a whole lot of quantity with these so you tend to run out pretty fast. So let’s get on with the list of my top picks shall we ?
Difference between Stick Foundations and Liquid foundations: Stick foundations is more dense and won’t easily melt in summer while liquid foundations can make your skin look oily. Stick ones can also be used as concealers. They also tend to have better coverage than the liquid ones.
How to apply a stick foundation? Just dot this all over your face and blend in with a good brush. Or rub a synthetic foundation brush on the stick and then apply on your face.
List of Top Ten Stick Foundations in India:
Drugstore range :
1. The Lotus Herbals Natural Blend Stick foundation :
Price in India: Rs.345
Oh dear god! This has to be my favorite drugstore stick foundation simply because the formula is divine! It blends like a dream, it’s smooth in texture and leaves such a dewy glow on the skin with medium coverage that isn’t very buildable. This is one of my favorites to wear during the winter because of the formula. A tip here, if your stick foundation’s top dries up during the winter just rub on some moisturizer and blend it in to the stick. It’ll warm up the product and glide right on , giving you a much smoother application.
If you’re not into the dewy look and you want it to set and last much longer, set it with loose powder because a compact will add too much cake-iness because of the formula being pigmented and heavy as it is.The shade range on this is average, so it might be difficult for very deep skintones to find an exact match.
Price in India: Rs. 250
This isn’t marketed as a stick foundation as such, but as a concealer, however, you can easily use it as a stick foundation. If you’re light enough, a deeper shade can also double as a cream contour, just a tip. The coverage on this bb stick is nowhere near as good as the lotus herbals one, but it’s much easier on the skin, much more buildable and lets your skin breathe a whole lot more. It’s very easy in terms of application and blends in beautifully with your fingers and doesn’t even need a sponge or a brush.
The finish is semi-matte and it’s a useful product through the summer as well . If you want to add some coverage and prolong it’s longevity , i’d reccomend a good compact instead of a loose powder to set it. It goes with most skin types but does end up accentuating dry patches- you’ve been forewarned! The shade range however is rather limited.
3. The olivia makeup stick foundation :
Price in India:Rs. 100-150
This was a surprising find on flipkart. I was shopping for makeup and this was one of the freebies i got in my cart on a deal, and hey! how does a gujju say no to that? It ended up being one of my favorite foundations for about a year until i ran out of it. It’s texture and formula is very similar to the lotus herbals one, although being slightly drier than it. So best suited for oily and combination skin. It’s longevity however was not as impressive as some of these other foundations considering the price and it only lasted around 3 hours i.e until i discovered the miracle i.e translucent powder. Then it’s lifetime is about as average as any other.
The shade range is also very impressive and actually , it happens to have the most shades available in it’s whole range out of the 3 drugstore ones. The coverage is also the highest out of all 3 of these and this product all in all, for the price especially, is a definite yet surprising winner here. One of the best budget stick foundations for oily skin.
Middle Range :
Price in India: Rs. 675
This has been one of my favorite products from colorbar in a long time! The other being their nude lipstick. This stick foundation has a pretty heavy feeling on the skin when you first apply it but it blends out looking flawless and light. The coverage can be built up to almost full. The shade range is very impressive and almost everyone can find a match. What i love is that they’re yellow based and so the undertones tend to match indian skin MUCH better. The finish is semi matte, however it tends to melt down a little through the day and get dewy. To take care of that and to make it look absolutely beautiful and poreless, finish it off with the L’oreal Infallible compact, because it looks absolutely divine! Best suited for dry skin.
5. Oriflame Dual Core Stick Foundation :
Price in India: Rs.650
This one, i’ve only applied twice before giving it away to my cousin. I got it from my parlor back in the day and didn’t really love this all that much. I have sensitive skin and this foundation made me breakout a little around my chin, so it had to go. But other than that, the formula was smooth, without being overly creamy. The coverage was medium, although not buildable and the finish was absolute beautiful. It was similar somewhat to the maybelline stick, with the coverage amped up quite a bit. The shade range is limited to 5 or 6 i think, but it covers almost everyone and has both yellow and pink undertones. The issue with this stick foundation however is availability, as i don’t think its available as easily with the dealers anymore.
6. Natio Clever Stick with SPF 15 :
Price in India: Rs.1050
Okay, Okay. I know it’s a little on the pricey side and the product quantity doesn’t make up for it but believe me when i say , it’s the best out of all of these stick foundations in India, including the high end ones. The texture of the foundation is buttery soft, the formula makes it look poreless and seamlessly glide onto the skin and the finish is that perfect goddess-like-perfect skin with a hint of dewiness that makes it look like you’re glowing from within. The coverage is almost buildable to full and the longevity is through any workday once you’ve set it. I’ve hyperventilated over it enough now, and need to tell you one little downside over it. The stick availability is a little bit of an issue since you can easily get it on nykaa and a few other websites but in stores, i am yet to see it.
Price in India: Rs.800
This is slightly expensive relative to the other makeup sticks as well, and is only available in the kryolan outlet stores but it is so worth the hunt-down! It’s not as good as the natio stick in terms of the formula but it kick’s natio’s little butt when it comes to the longevity . The colour selection is also pretty dope with lots of variations for different Indian skin tones and undertones. (About 6 to 8 i think) The coverage on both of these stick foundations is about the same and the formula is slightly on the drier side compared to natio. So best suited for oily skin. It’s still pretty amazing though and definitely worth getting. Although after getting the kryolan stick, i picked up the colorbar one and i personally think they’re about the same ( i mean kryolan is a little better but come on! colorbar is cheaper!) . A word to the wise though, do set this foundation.
8. MAC Studio Stick SPF 15 Foundation :
I bought it online years back, had it delivered in the USA, and made my relative smuggle it to me here . (AH! The struggle is real!) So i’m not sure you can get it in retail MAC counters and Stores. This foundation stick is the bomb! Still not as good as natio, but it’s in the same range as the kryolan and natio. Not much to say about it. Coverage is good, longevity is very good, formula is pretty average, not as smooth as you would like.
High-End :
9. Makeup Forever Ultra HD Stick Foundation :
I am yet to try this personally, but i have heard so many people rave about this stick foundation that i had to mention it in here. I can’t recommend you buy it since i am yet to go to delhi and get it, i do recommend you swatch it at your local sephora in India, fall in love, and live happily ever after.
10. Bobbi brown Stick Foundation :
Again, i’m yet to try this personally , but again, i’ve only heard raving reviews on it and i can’t personally recommend you to get it, but i do urge you to try it out since it’s supposed to be one of the best foundation sticks down there . As for me, i’ll be flying out to delhi and fetching one for myself ASAP.
