List of Top 10 Facial Mists in India:

Avene Eu Thermale Thermal Spring Water

The cult French skincare range that Hollywood swears by! The holy water for many a glam lady, this is one of the best that you can lay your hands on. Avéne Thermal Spring Water is sourced directly from the Cevennes Mountains in France, in its purest, unfiltered form. Avene Thermal Spring Water soothes, softens and restores skin’s natural balance. Its myriad benefits include a perfect balance of anions and actions at a pH of 7.5, low salt mineral content such that the skin does not dry out, hypoallergenic and non-comedogenic properties, and most importantly, freedom from any chemicals, parabens and toxins. Price in India: ₹ 1090 for 150 ml

La Roche-Posay TSW comes a close second to Avene, but it is almost as awesome! The French swear by it, and we all know how glamorous a French mademoiselle can be, don’t we? La Roche-Posay is a soothing, softening thermal spring water that soothes sensitive skin irritated by outside factors (sun, dermatological treatments, etc) and helps prevent skin aging. Besides being soothing and hydrating, it has been proven as an anti-irritation treatment for sensitive skin as well. Price in India: ₹ 550 for 50 ml

MAC Fix+ Spray

Like all MAC products, this one is a winner too! An aqua-spritz of vitamin and minerals, infused with a calm-the skin blend of green tea, chamomile, cucumber and topped with the fresh, natural, energising scent of Sugi. In one word, L-U-X-U-R-Y!!! Besides being alcohol-free, paraben-free, it is a cornucopia of antioxidants in the form of green tea and chamomile. Refreshing and soothing to the core, one spray of this wonder-mist and your skin just drinks it up! Perfect for all those hot summer days when your skin craves a little hydration.

As for the ‘Fix’ part of MAC Fix+ Spray, that job is done to perfection, for not only does it set your makeup, ensuring that it does not melt, or even budge from place for a good 7-8 hours, it also magically transforms any powdery effect of caked up makeup to provide a dewy, natural finish. Awesome stuff, I say! In the picture you can see Agnirupe wearing it. Price in India: ₹ 1150 for 100 ml

Za Total Hydration Energy Mist

This refreshing facial mist from the hpuse of Za, instantly resolves dryness and stickiness of the skin, for resilient skin with less visible pores. With active ingredients like Amino Mineral Complex and Vitamin B Derivatives, the clarity and moisture balance of skin is restored, making it instantly smooth and supple. Spraying it on your face regularly imparts a healthy glow to the face as well, besides keeping you fresh and energized. The only con is that it contains parabens. Price in India: ₹ 549 for 80 ml

Home Made Facial Mist

Since most of the aforementioned thermal water mists are exorbitantly priced and not readily available, here is a homemade facial mist you can try at home: Brew green tea in mineral water, with about 2 tea-bags for each cup of water. After it’s done, refrigerate it, and when it is cool enough, add pure rose water, a few muddled mint leaves(mint leaf paste works just as well), pomegranate juice and a few drops of jojoba oil. Mix well, put in a spray bottle and use! This concoction is steeped in the goodness of antioxidants and since it is 100% natural, you don’t have to worry about getting chemicals and toxins on your face.

There you have, the best of thermal spring water facial mists in India. There is so much more you can do with it than just give your skin some extra hydration: use it as a makeup primer, to set your makeup and get rid of that powdery finish, as a pore-tightener (yes! Most of them do that!), to soothe rashes  and redness post-hair removal(works like magic), and even on babies to soothe nappy rashes! Truly, a multi-use miracle product!

How you use your thermal mist is equally important, for getting it wrong would just make you lose out on all the benefits. Just spraying it liberally all over your face isn’t enough, for without any hydrating ingredients to bind the moisture to your skin, the water just evaporates, making your skin dry and dull, which is just a major NO-NO. Even if you have oily skin, this isn’t the right way, so here is the proper way to use a face mist:

  1. Hold the can about 5-6 inches away from your face and spritz.
  2. Let it sit for a minute or so and then (VERY IMPORTANT) blot it off with a tissue or cotton pad.
  3. Apply moisturizer, to lock in all the moisture and nutrients.

  • The Body Shop Vit E is hands down my favourite of the list. But then I still have to try the Forest Essential and Za one.. :)

  • Forest Essentials Panchpush is the one for me. Though a keen eye on trying out the MAC Fix+ and La Roche-Posay thermal spring water.
Another diy twist that I like to employ is adding two-three(max) saffron strands to rosewater, a good shake and soak-in of 10-15 minutes and use this as a toner or a mist. Refreshers as well as keeps on check the pigmentation/hyper-pigmentation, marks and blemishes issues overtime.

  • Good compilation.. I love Forest Essentials and TBS Face Mists and the DIY is super cool

  • Of all these, I have used the MAC fix only and I dont think I would ever try to find an alternative for that :), but only if the formula remains the same.

  • Looking at the price, I am definitely going to make one at home :P

Yes for emergencies, I might for the forest essentials or body shop one too.

  • I am using the Vichy Facial spray these days...but I definitely want to try the DIY version :) :)
