Casual Monday: Soft Summer Pastel Makeup Tutorial
By Contributor: Mahima
PASTELS.. it is one of the popular on going trends of 2014, especially with spring and summer approaching pastels have taken a great great lead. You can actually incorporate this trend in you outfits by wearing pastel shoes or by simply wearing a pastel statement necklace but we can also incorporate the trend in our makeup. Well pastels might not suit our dark Indian skin tones that well but you know what? We’ll make it work! The idea is to use shades that won’t wash us out but still look chalky enough. That’s how Lisa Elridge explains this trend – Chalk it Up! Today I’m going to show you the step by step eye makeup tutorial I did for this look along with the makeup breakdown and other makeup recommendations.
So lets get started. And yeah before we start I want to actually tell you the face products that I’m wearing as I get a lot of requests for that, so here it is-
Concealer- Maybelline magic lumi (buff)
Foundation- loreal magic soufflé (ivory)
Compact- chambor silver shadow compact.
How to Pastel Eye Makeup:
Step 1: Apply a green/baby blue/lavender/pastel orange cream eye shadow all over your lid and on your lower lash line. I chose green because that will bring out the green in my eyes. Product used: Maybelline color tattoo Edgy Emerald
Step 2: Now with a fluffy blending brush apply soft brown color into your crease. Product used: Driftwood from the stila in the know palette.
Step 3: Just go on and put on your brown bone highlight and your eye liner. Product used: highlight- my compact powder (as I don’t want too much of a highlight) Eyeliner- Maybelline hyper glossy.
Step 4: Now this step totally depends upon you. Here are two options you can either apply a white kohl on your lower water line or you can apply a black/grey kohl then just simply finish off with lots of mascara. Products used: kohl- lakme eyeconic white. Grey kohl- stila eye pencil Halfmoon. Mascara- Maybelline colossal volume express.
Here is how the complete mint pastel eye makeup looks
And now for the blush and lipstick, I’m wearing Maybelline cheeky glow in the shade Fresh Coral and Maybelline bold mat 3, respectively.
So woohoo we’re done. Well this is a standard look. You can replace the green eye shadow with any pastel color of your choice and look ekdum fantastic! And if you want to make the lips more pastel then add Nyx soft matte lip cream in the shade Tokyo or Istanbul.
Other makeup combinations to try: Soft lavender eye makeup with cotton candy lips, mint blue eye makeup with nude pink lips
