People all around the world have been bewitched and mesmerized by the beautiful women in the Indian subcontinent. For my post today, I will cover a fraction of the celebrated Indian women who have mesmerized us with their beauty, talent and impeccable sense of style. Technically, this list could go on and on but as the title suggests, I had to snip it off right after the 10th name. So here are 10 most beautiful women in Indian of recent times. These women have been included in the most beautiful women lists across the world from time to time. Maybe I will do an updated 2015 list to include the names which are left out.
They have touched our hearts either for their remarkable personalities, screen presence, their unparalleled act ing skills in critically acclaimed films or for their work for the benefit of the society. They have received recognition throughout the world and are forever etched in our hearts and our minds.

MAHARANI GAYATRI DEVI:
Gayatri Devi was the third Maharani consort of Jaipur from 1940 to 1949 through her marriage to Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II. Gayatri Devi was celebrated for her classical beauty and became a fashion icon in her adulthood. She was once included in Vogue magazine’s Ten Most Beautiful Women list. Maharani Gayatri Devi was an able polo player and an excellent rider. She had a fondness for cars and also was an excellent shot and she enjoyed going out for a ‘Shikaar’.
MADHUBALA:
She is regarded as one of the most influential personalities of the Hindi film industry. Madhubala is considered to be one of the most beautiful actresses to have worked in the industry. She received world-wide recognition for her performances in films like Mughal-e-Azam, Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi, Amar, Mahal etc. which attracted a great deal of interest from Hollywood. She became one of the most sought-after actresses in India. She appeared in the American magazine Theatre Arts , where she was featured in an article in its August 1952 issue. Frank Capra, an Academy Award winner American director wanted to give Madhubala her debut in Hollywood but her father, Ataullah Khanhad declined. She was also the wife of Kishore Kumar who is considered as one of the most successful playback singers of the Hindi film industry.
SURAIYA JAMAAL SHEIKH:
Suraiya was one of the most popular actress and singer in Bollywood in the 40s and 50s. She was not formally trained in music yet she went on to becoming one of the most successful singing actress. The beautiful actress rose to fame for her acting in Tadbir (1945) then began landing big roles in movies such as Omar Khayyam (1945) and Parwana (1947). She became the highest paid female star who broke hearts and records, regularly.
WAHEEDA REHMAN:
Waheeda is tagged as Bollywood’s most beautiful woman of her time. She is a proof that beauty is ageless. She has received various awards throughout her career and has received substantial publicity for being cited as the “most beautiful actress” in Bollywood. She was seen in a series of various successful films such as Pyaasa, Kaagaz Ke Phool, Chaudhvin Ka Chand, Solva Saal, Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam and many others.
SUCHITRA SEN:
She was the first Bengali actress to receive an award at an international film festival at the Moscow International Film Festival in 1963 and was also awarded the Padma Shri, one of the highest civilian awards in India. In 2012, she received Banga Bibhushan, West Bengal Government’s highest honour. She acted opposite Uttam Kumar in Sharey Chuattor and became a Bengali drama icon. Out of 60 films, she has starred in 30 opposite to Uttam Kumar.
NARGIS DUTT:
One of the best known roles of Nargis was that of Radha in the film Mother India which was nominated for an Academy Award and she married her co-actor, Sunil Dutt. The beautiful actress has done charitable work for the organisation, The Spastics Society of India and got recognition as a social worker. She made her acting debut as a child artist but rose to fame in her adulthood with her movie, Tamanna (1942). Her films were critically appreciated and many featured her alongside filmmaker and actor, Raj Kapoor.
REKHA:
Rekha is highly credited for her versatility and is known as one of the finest actress in Bollywood. She started out as a child artist and received her big break 4 years later in Sawan Bhadon. She has acted in over 180 films where she often plays a strong female character. She was often mocked for her fashion sense but she later transformed herself in to an all powerful and indomitable diva. The audience were floored at the transformation.
CHITRANGADA SINGH:
This beautiful Indian actress is applauded for her critically acclaimed films like Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi, Desi Boyz, Yeh Saali Zindagi and many more. She started out as a model and drew attention to herself when she performed in a music video. She has bagged many brand endorsements from Puma, Airtel, Garnier, Taj Mahal Tea and many more. She also endorsed Tata Group’s Titan Eye Plus and Tanishq.
SHRUTI HASSAN:
She has worked in the Hindi, Bengali and Telugu film industries as an actress and also as a singer. She started out as a child artist in her father’s (Kamal Hassan) film Hey Ram and made her debut in action drama Luck, a Bollywood drama movie. She established herself as a successful leading artist in Telugu cinema after a series of successful films. Shruti has topped the recent poll conducted by Chennai Times as the most desirable woman.
KANGANA RANAUT:
She is regarded as one of the most fashionable Indian celebrities and indeed she hasn’t stopped mesmerizing us with her classy yet quirky fashion statements which make her stand out. She has also won many Filmfare Awards thanks to her wonderful acting career in Bollywood. The beautiful actress awes her audience with her acting skills on the big screen and everybody makes her an idol and fashion icon. She portrays strong women characters in her films which embodies the spirit of the Indian Woman!
