Review of Revlon PhotoReady Skinlights Face Illuminator in 100 Bare Light

By Contributor: Aditi

Well having to forcefully get rid of my beloved benefit high beam highlighter,I was really left with nothing to entertain my face with until Revlon launched the photoready skin lights in India. I m not much of a person who goes to drugstore for a face product but this highlighter launch was tempting so this landed in my hand. I am not really of a glitter or shimmer person, matte is my love, but when a little glow on face does no harm. So today I will review the shade Bare Light

from Photoready Skin Illuminator range by Revlon.

I don’t know why after having loved bobbi brown and chanel for the quality they give in there powder highlighters, I’m not really comfortable as the shimmer in those tend to go places I don’t really want them to and hence crave for liquid products. Even though I’m super new to highlighters, I’m selective and hence got this Revlon skinlights which has a runny lotion like consistency and is a dream to blend in.

Shades available: Pink Light, Bare Light, Peach Light

Its not overly loaded with shimmer so don’t worry you are safe to be using it. It has very fine pearly shimmer that doesn’t look over the top but yeah you have to be very careful while applying as the tiniest possible amount is more than enough for both sides of your cheek bones.

This particular shade Bare Light is quite a universal color that would flatter almost all Indian skin tones accept the extreme pale ones, would be a little dark on them. Its flesh toned leaning towards yellow and is perfect match for the Indian skin. There are other two colors also available that are beige and pink toned so MAC NW girls you also have fair options. This is what I really liked, despite being a drugstore product it has ample options to suit varied skin tones.

The pacakaging is just sooo awesome. It’s the slimmest or the thinnest packed cosmetic product that I own in a tube, thinner than my compact as well. Love that the packaging is so sleek and flattering. I love it and also the nozzle and the stopper is precisely sized so that you never end up dispensing a huge ton of product and also keeps it hygienic and not at all messy. It’s a beige colord tube or maybe matte golden with a black super intact cap. Actually Revlon PhotoReady Skinlights looks like the Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua foundation tube, even skinnier.

As you apply it to your skin its runny in consistency but after application dries up and gets absorbed

Application technique for Revlon Skinlights Face Illuminator: I would suggest that you guys to apply it over your primer or moisturiser but beneath your foundation. Means apply the highlighter before the foundation as it would create and illusion of an inner luminosity and also as the shimmer particles are little more prominent for me, a foundation or bb cream on top of it would help tone down the shimmer but keep up the dewy glow

Price: Rs.850 (I guess it’s a good buy as one tube would last a long time)

VNA Rating: 4.5/5

Conclusion: As compared to my highbeam from benefit, Revlon PhotoReady Skinlights Face Illuminator one seems to be more prominent as it has larger glitter/shimmer particles and is not as finely milled as the highbeam. If I had to choose I would go with the benefit but this offers better and easy blending. In terms of other drugstore highlighter options I guess I would blindly go with this one.

  2. I have swatched this highlighter months ago and felt that it was a bit too shimmery for me. I am a girl who loves a glowy face but I like it when my face looks dewy with a subtle glow. But after reading your reviews today I am gonna give this a try and surely try your application tip.
