I have never seen a serum which costs less than 800 rupees, never! So when this Olay fairness serum dropped into my lap, I almost gasped when I saw how much it cost. The first thought that came into my mind was that, there is no way that this can be of any good! Maybe, it was just one those things that companies put out to for the sake of it and I shouldn’t get so excited. So lets not waste words and nosedive right into it. I’m talking about the Light Instant Glowing Fairness Serum from Olay Natural White

1) Correct uneven skin tone
2) Make skin tone lighter
3) Provide sun protection
My Review:
The texture of the Olay serum has the consistency of a cream and on application, it first goes on white then it completely disappears on the skin. It also has a slight tint to it which I think contributes to the ‘glowing fairness’ claims.
A serum needs to be applied after cleansing the face and after applying toner and this is what I have been doing religiously for the past few weeks. And let me tell you, right away, that I am disappointed. On application it does give a certain glow to the skin which fades after a few hours. Long term wise, it doesn’t really do anything. My acne scars and skin tone hasn’t improved after using it regularly. There is a mention of UV protection but there isn’t any SPF in it.
The inclusion of ingredients like alocohol, parabens and fragrance also does nothing to soften the blow. The natural white fairness has a soft flowery scent to it which it quite pleasant and it disappears after a few minutes of application. It comes in a squeeze tube packaging which has a secure lid which makes it ideal for travel.
Tall claims have been made by Olay on this serum. And let me clarify, all this is just marketing gimmick. Claims like instant glowing fairness are just a fraction of the truth. Yes, it is a budget friendly serum but it really doesn’t do anything significant and that is what irritates me the most. If the claims were reasonable then I wouldn’t have been so disappointed.
