By Contributor: Aruna

Lip balms are essential to me in these few scarce months that we are blessed with cold weather in the ever sweltering Mumbai. The Nivea Lip Care Fruity shine lip balms from have been around for a long time and are a favourite amongst many college and school girls for being easy on the pocket and also because they are so easy to wear! Nivea has both tinted and non tinted lip balms and today I am going to review and swatch the shade Pink Guava which is a light peach tinted lip balm.

Nivea claims: The innovative formula of Nivea Fruity Shine with Pink Guava extract and shimmering pigments provides long lasting moisturisation and a delicious fruity flavor giving you soft and smooth lips with a light pink shimmer.

  • Delights your lips with fruity flavor and long lasting care

  • Enhances your lips with shimmering pigments and a delicate hint of pink

  • Contains SPF 10. Protects against UVA and UVB rays

My Review:

Nivea Pink guava is easily a favourite of mine from this range because of the beautiful warm peach pink tint it leaves on the lips. The pigmentation of this shade is medium but buildable which makes extremely convenient. One could easily get a sheer wash of colour in two swipes and increase the intensity by adding another two swipes of colour according to one’s mood! This paired up with the glossy finish is a definite added advantage. If you are a low maintenance girl on a budget, then this is your new best friend.

Texture wise, this product sits perfectly in the middle. On application, it does feel a tad thick in texture but as it settles down and gets absorbed after a few minutes it becomes more comfortable and light. The Nivea lip care balm does have flecks of shimmer of shimmer in it but the odd thing is that none of it transfers onto my lips at all. And since I am not a big fan of frosty finishes, this is a plus point for me. The smell and the taste are of these nivea lip balms are the only thing that bother me the most. It has a fruity guava yet chemical type scent to it which puts me off (I guess I’m not really into guavas!) and you get the same taste in your mouth too.

The packaging of nivea lip care, however, is a total winner for me. It may not be as fancy or decorative as some other brands but it is sturdy enough to handle a good amount of jostling in my bag and a few tumbles here and there. The swivel mechanism in the tube is smooth and easy to use and cap remains firmly in place once closed. I also love the fact that they have named all the fruity shine shades behind fruits and every shade has a colour coded cap which can be easily spotted when I am in a hurry.

Coming to moisturising your lips which is actually what a lip balm is meant for, I wouldn’t really call it impressive. Nivea is a company whose body lotions have set a high standard, this lip balm, I’m afraid doesn’t quite reach up to it. The lips are well moisturised once you apply it and it doesn’t leave the lips dry after fading but it doesn’t leave them well moisturised either. I can only guess that it prevents my lips from chapping but doesn’t do substantial healing work while on. The staying is an average of 3 to 4 hours after without any meals after which the fruity shine lip balm slowly fades away but a faint pink tint remains.

  2. I have used the cherry variant and love it. When my lips are more dry and chapped, I use the Nivea Med Protection lip balm.

  3. Heyy I have the same one! I got it on a buy 1 get one offer. I like the case but somehow the fragrance is not amazing and definitely not like GUAVA. I like the pinkish tint but it doesn’t stay on lips for long. Gets annoying in terms of stay and healing power.
Wish Nivea would have put some more efforts on making it a balm that heals chapped lips.

Is it hard to set up your own blog? I’m not very techincal but I
can figure things out pretty fast. I’m thinking about setting
up my own but I’m not sure where to begin. Do you have
    any points or suggestions? Thanks
