Review and Price of MAC Prep + Prime Skin Base Visage
By Contributor: Shahina
Ever wondered why get a makeup primer and spend money on it when you would rather get another shade of MAC lipstick? If no then let me tell you that you are smart intelligent girls. If your was a yes then let me get some facts laid down for you! Ladies, this is fact time.. a primer is what prepares your skin before the makeup. Most of you know what a primer is but beginners or girls taking their initial steps in make-up world should definitely invest in a good face primer. VNA does have a list of good makeup primers to help you decide. I bought this MAC PREP+PRIMER Skin Base and I’m loving it so today I will review and swatch it.
No I’m not saying so you girls buy it too but it is really effective- whatever your skin tone is or whatever your skin texture is- oily, dry, t-zone oily or whatever it is, it works for all! It will not only prepare your skin but also it would keep your foundation lasting enough. Sounds amazing right? Trust me, it is!!
MAC CLAIMS: An ultra-fluid lotion formulated with special-effect silicones. Calms and soothes the skin, blots away excess oil, and evens out skin redness. Improves the laydown and application of foundation or powder.
I go to MAC stores to get lipstick because well, I have nothing better to do at the mall other then go into MAC stores and fall in love all over again with all the products and go into a dream land where it’s just you and the lipsticks and everything else. Okay we are going off the track, so as I was stating earlier I had little clue what a primer was and I mainly thought it was useless! Stupid, I know but well I was unaware and like me, many girls out there are unaware too so ladies and girls A PRIMER IS IMPORTANT.
All you have to do is take a little bit of Prep + Prime on your hand or sponge or even a brush, I use sponge because my skin is oily in the t-zone so it is preferable to use a sponge so the excess oil is evened out, like it claims and after that you let the primer sink into your skin (no it isn’t dangerous!) It would give out better effects. It makes your skin a bit more supple and your make-up sets more perfectly.
Please do not use on lips, you might think that’s the dumbest advice ever but trust me it’s not. When I told my best friend about this..she thought her lipstick would also blend perfectly and settle on her lips. Thank Goodness, I was present when she was applying the primer!!
It has both good pointers and bad pointers, sad I know! But that’s how make-up works isn’t it??
Good points about MAC Prep + Prime Skin Base Visage:
- Makes skin evenly toned, if used moderately.
- It really does smoothen out your acnes, spots. Doesn’t hide but that’s not what primer does so it tones them down a little
- Primer along with make makes your skin glow and the makeup looks more polished
- I personally prefer Primer before makeup (My opinion matters, give me some credit!)
Bad points MAC Prep + Prime Skin Base Visage:
(I don’t like this part personally, who likes saying bad facts about something great but these are facts and I need to tell you guys!)
- If you have oily skin, it is recommended that you use very little or it would make you feel a lot oily!
- Too much usage of primer would make you look like you have just exited oil machine, yeah it has the effect..trust me when I say that because once it happened to me. Disastrous!
Price: Rs.2500 approx as it might have increased now
VNA Rating: If you ask me to Rate this product, I would definitely give 4 out of 5. I could have given more as I love the product but I’m just biased towards lipsticks but Hey don’t judge me I love my shoes and lipsticks! I mean who doesn’t??
Conclusion: In all I would say Prep + Prime works perfectly if you figure out how to use this primer. It would actually make your skin glow and the effects after putting on the make-up (if you know how to use make up perfectly) would look as if it’s air brushed makeup (Hope you know what an airbrush make up is) It’s a must have base product in your make-up kit just like you have a little black dress in your wardrobe, this little black cylindrical bottle is a must. If you think you need to learn and experiment with the primer, there is nothing to experiment though but still if you have doubts there is a small bottle too. I would suggest, first go get the small bottle and then go in for the larger size. See I’m an angel, I say no lies. That’s all for today..this is Shahina signing out! (I ALWAYS WANTED TO SAY THAT!!)
