Mac Eye Shadow in Plum dressing (Veluxe Pearl) Review, Swatches and EOTD

By Contributor: Samannita Modak

I guess I am improving as I am moving my makeup reviews from lips to eyes. I admit I never showed my love for eye shadows but I am a secret lover of smokey eyes and it was at class 10th that I created my first smokey eye makeup look in my school programme. Next I started buying  MUA eye shadows palettes and sleek eye shadows but finally I ended up buying MAC. And of course I think you all can guess that I am reviewing and swatching my first ever eye shadow from MAC – Plum Dressing. I w as really confused among the shades but I am fond of pink and purple shades as I think these both shades looks good on me so I decided to be safe for my first attempt so I bought this shade.

Mac eye shadows come in seven finishes I think, like I found in store. The finishes are –

  • Matte
  • Matte2
  • Frost
  • Lustre
  • Satin
  • Veluxe pearl
  • Velvet

Mac Plum dressing is a lovely plumish pink that comes under the veluxe pearl range. Its very much pigmented and blends very easily. The shade is just perfect to create any smokey eye or just a simple look. You can create a dramatic as well as an everyday look with this particular shade. The loveliest part of this shadow is it is neither too matte nor too shimmery but gives a subtle glossy look to your makeup. The veluxe pearl part imparts a subtle shimmer to it so it does not look flat. It will suit girls with brown eyes and warm skin a lot..basically all Indian skin tones.

The texture of the eye shadow is really, really smooth like baked ones. And the most amazing part is that it has no fallouts during application. I think these qualities in an eye shadow are just ideal or perfect for beginners to practice their blending skills as I am very poor when it comes to blending 2-3 colors together.

Mac eye shadows comes in both refills and in full sizes. I got the full size as the refill was out of stock. I was hunting for it from 2 months before finally giving up and buying the full pan. The shadow is really long lasting and when applied with a primer it lasts really long without any fading.

I created a simple look for morning with this shade, have a look …hope you will like it. Here I paired Plum Dressing with Mac eye pencil Designer Purple.

The good parts about Mac Plum Dressing Eyeshadow:

  • Very Pigmented.
  • Has got a really soft texture.
  • Blends easily.
  • No fall outs during application
  • Staying power is really long.
  • Neither too matte nor too shimmery.
  • Can be used for creating dramatic smokey or simple eye makeup looks.
  • The warm reddish purple undertone in this shade makes it wearable for most of the Indian skin tones.

Now the bad parts about Mac Plum Dressing Eyeshadow:

  • Pricey in both ways…I mean in refills and full size.
  • Availability.

Price: Rs.990 (Refill for Rs.750)

VNA Rating:  4/5

Conclusion: Mac Plum Dressing Eyeshadow in Veluxe Pearl finish is a great warm reddish plum eyeshadow which suits a lot of Indian skin tones. Although the shade has many dupes in other brands but the veluxe pearl texture makes the difference. The quality is ofcourse amazing since its Mac. The texture, staying power, blendability, colour pay off..everything is worth the price. I totally recommend it.

  1. Pretty shade…. Loving ur EOTD.
but again MAC doesn’t interest me for any eye makeup range.. Almost every shade of MAC eye shadows has a dupe in Inglot.. so why waste money in them.. :P :D
