MAC Lovechild Lipglass Review, Swatches
By Contributor: Agnirupa Acharyya
I am back here to entertain you..err no? Okay fine bore you (see? I am ok with anything) with another lip thingy review. I am actually a lipgloss girl. I had exactly 2 lipsticks my whole life till last year: 1 which my mother had thrown at me once to shoo me away (just kidding! I stole it from her) and another which a cousin from abroad had gifted. The 1st one was a typical “mom” sorta maroon which looked like I was auditioning for twilight saga and the other was a pearly pale pink which made me look like I had all my blood sucked out very recently. So they made sure I would never try any lipsticks! But then MAC came into my life through blogging and the rest is history. Today I revisit my old and perpetual love for glosses with this extremely versatile everyday wear MAC Lovechild lipglass.
Mac Claims: An unique lip gloss available in wide variety of colours that can create a high gloss, glass-like finish or a subtle sheen. Designed to be worn on its own, over Lip Pencil or Lipstick, Tinted Lipglass is the perfect product for creating shine that lasts. It’s pigmented, very shiny and can impart subtle or dramatic colour. It contains Jojoba Oil to help soften and condition the lips. Tinted Lipglass is packaged in a convenient bottle with a sponge tip applicator that provides a quick, smooth, even application.
Shade: MAC describes this shade as coppered plum. MAC describes it just right and it indeed is a dirty plumy color with a hint of coppery brown and beautiful golden sparkles which I am in love with. The pigmentation is superb, one swipe and it goes opaque. The gloss can be rocked by simply any complexion and makes an ideal versatile gloss! You can layer it over a lipstick for that oomph or you can just slather it on for a barely there sparkle! This is totally my shade. Me loves!
Packaging: The lipglass comes in a fuss free typical transparent tube packaging with a nice spongy applicator which picks up the right amount of product in a single dip.
Quality: The texture is quite gloopy and thick as is the case with most MAC glosses but me being an ardent fan (can’t help it!) I really don’t mind the texture and though it is thick, it glides on pretty well on bare lips and is not streaky at all. Since it is gloopy it lasts a loooong time!! It stays on my lips easily through 4+hours and rocks on through meals and chit-chat sessions. The fragrance is the identical classic vanilla of the MAC lipsticks and I loovvee it.
Let’s see some photos and swatches:
The things I love about the lipglass:
- Travel friendly convenient packaging with a nice spongy applicator.
- Though it is thick, the gloss spreads uniformly and smoothly on my lips.
- The color is awesome and just perfect for daily wear- a dirty plum color with a brownish hint it will look gorgeous on all complexions.
- The lasting power is great and easily stays for 4+ hours!
- Yummilicious vanilla fragrance.
- In spite of the presence of fine golden shimmer it certainly does not look OTT!
The things I don’t like about the lipglass:
- As is the common complaint with MAC lipglasses, some may find the texture too heavy or thick for their liking otherwise no con at all!
VNA Rating: 4.5/5
Do I recommend? Mac Lovechild is for you if you don’t mind the typical thickness and stickyness of MAC lipglasses. You will surely fall head over heels for this perfect classy color to rock any day any situation and just perfect for anyone. Do pick this up if you need an everyday long lasting yummy vanilla gloss to make your pout happy (your pocket might not be happy though) but oh well we cannot please everyone!
Editor: Rimmel Snog lipgloss is a cult favourite among beauty bloggers and supposed to be a dupe of Lovechild.
