Magic Nude Liquid Powder 328 Sun Beige by L’Oreal Paris Review
By Contributor: Mamta
New launches are always exciting and when I came to know about this latest foundation by L’Oreal I had to try it. Okay I admit the main reason I really wanted to try the Magic Nude Liquid Broad Spectrum SPF 18 is that it is said to be almost an exact dupe for Giorgio Armani Maestro Fusion Makeup which is incredible, including the ingredients which makes sense since L’Oreal owns Gorgio Armani Cosmetics. Anyhow let’s get into the review and swatches.
L’Oreal Claims: Get the ultimate un-makeup look with Magic Nude Liquid Powder Bare Skin Perfecting Makeup with SPF 18. Revolutionary liquid transforms on contact, leaving a soft powder like finish. This foundation is so amazingly lightweight it’s like wearing no makeup at all! Just shake and apply – its magic!
My Review:
The Nude Liquid Powder comes in a sleek frosted glass bottle, the packaging is really unique from other foundations but not very practical since one drop and the bottle will shatter into pieces! It has a purple screw cap but has no pump or nozzle to control the amount of product that comes out and when poured directly lot of product comes out due to runny texture creating a mess. But as L’Oreal Mentions the best way to apply it, is to keep the fingers on the mouth of bottle and tilt it to get required product on fingers and then apply. I have the shade Sun Beige
out of the six shades launched in India, it has neutral undertones and matches my skin tone perfectly.
The texture is the most interesting part about it. It has to be shaken well before use, and the foundation itself is a thin runny liquid, almost like powder mixed with liquid and has no noticeable fragrance. Due to the thin consistency fingers are the best tool to apply it, since brushes and sponge will absorb most of the product. It blends seamlessly and the application is quick, and feels really smooth since it is a silicone based foundation. It immediately transforms from liquid into a silky powder which can be felt during application and sets to a semi matte finish.
It has light coverage which can be buildable to medium as L’Oreal claims. If you have good skin to begin with then this is a great foundation, if not you need a good helping hand of concealer with it. It evens out my skin tone nicely, covering the slight redness but does not cover my dark circles or pigmentation, when layered to build coverage it blurs them out but fails to cover completely. But the one thing I love about it is how natural it looks on skin, it just makes my skin look so healthy, it is almost like second skin makeup and looks invisible and feels extremely lightweight as if I am not wearing any foundation. It is more of an everyday foundation, if you use one! If you are looking for heavy coverage then this is not for you.
It has a semi matte finish when applied, and I did not need to set it with any powder on my combination skin. My skin looked shiny on the t-zone mainly after about 4 hours of wear, and I had to blot it. So the oil control part is average and hence may not work for very oily skin types especially in the hot summers. During summers when my skin gets quite oily I will need to use some powder on top. I like the fact that it did not settle into pores and emphasize them. Since it has a powder finish it adheres to the dry and flaky patches on skin, so exfoliation and moisturizing beforehand is necessary, as a result this would not be a great foundation for women with dry skin . It has SPF 18 which is great for daytime. It holds up well and did not oxidize and lasts for 6-7 hours on my combination skin before it starts to fade but in summers I am expecting it will not stay put for this long, a primer will certainly help there.
What I like About L’Oreal Paris Magic Nude Liquid Powder:
Blends seamlessly
Natural skin like semi matte finish
Skin feels smooth after applying it
Weightless feel
Light coverage evens out skin and is perfect for natural look
Unique Liquid Powder Formula
Does not need to be set with a powder
Shade range is good
Has SPF 18
What I don’t like about L’Oreal Nude Magic Foundation:
Packaging is not at all convenient
Does not control oil and shine very well
Staying power could have been better
Sticks to dry flakes and patches, hence not suitable for dry skin
Price could have been little less for a light coverage foundation
Price: Rs 899
VNA Rating: 3.8/5
Do I recommend? I love the no makeup look and feel this foundation has it. If you have normal to oily skin and are looking for a good natural looking foundation, then I highly suggest you give this a try, the shade range is pretty good to cater India skin tones and the unique liquid to powder formula make it a must try in my opinion!
