By Contributor: Vaidehee
Hey you guys! So going on my L’oreal review roll, i’ll review and swatch the new L’oreal infallible powder foundation in shade Beige . This reno infallible range also has a liquid foundation which I already love. I have always had a thing for L’oreal, because the quality is always outstanding, and so far, there hasn’t been a makeup product i didn’t love. Powder foundations are usually a no-no thing with me, because most of them don’t really have a lot of coverage to them and their lasting power with the indian weather is almost always nil . Let’s just hope this compact powder from L’Oreal is better, considering it would burn a whole in someone’s pocket with the price!

My Review of L’Oreal foundation powder:
Price : The L’oreal infallible powder retails at just Rs 1250 , which for a powder is a little bit more.
Packaging: It comes in the usual flip open case. The first lid opens up to show the compact, the second opens up to show the handy little mirror and the sponge that it comes with (keeps the sponge from being constantly in touch with the powder, and helps prolong the lifetime ). The graphics are great, the case is sturdy, the sponge is surprizingly great for building up coverage, and all in all ? The packaging of the compact is fantastic.
Texture : The texture for the loreal powder is slightly talc-like, though, very very slightly. It’s milled well and the because of the fine granules, it is very blendable . One disappointing detail is that it’s not pressed onto the pan well and you will pick up quite a bit of product, so tread with a little caution.
Pigmentation: The pigmentation of the loreal compact foundation does show up really dense when you swatch it on your hand, but because of the texture, it blends out really well with a powder brush or the sponge, so pigmented, but not necessarily cakey. Also, the entire reno infallible 24H range does have a lot of shades for Indian skin from porcelain to deeper sades, with both yellow and pink undertones , though predominantly yellow under toned, and everything in between. So if you do happen to be a slightly dusky, the shades will match you if you can find it! The shade i have is 225 Beige, is slightly lighter than my skin and a lot more pink than my general complexion but since it blends out well its good to go. It’s lovely for going under the under eyes to brighten it up (and i know a lot of people wear yellow under there, but i personally prefer more pink tones since they generally flatter me and tend to liven up the flat concealer better)
Coverage : This is supposed to work as a powder foundation, or at least that’s what the product claims, however, obviously, a powder doesn’t do well on the coverage part, almost ever. It is a pigmented product, and if you can find one to match you, it will even out your skin tone as a whole, but there isn’t crazy amounts of coverage. It’s much better than most powders i’ve tried out.
Longevity: It stays on for a decent 4-5 hours and keeps your oil free (now that depends from person to person, i personally do get somewhat oily, but not all that much lately). It’s predominantly meant to prolong the matte finish of the coupling Infallible foundation, and that i think is what it’s best for. It keeps the foundation from getting shiny , or moving around , and increasing the wear time of the flat matte finish . As a powder foundation, the coverage starts to wear off very quickly and isn’t that impressive. but as a coherent product? It is amazing.
How i like to apply L’Oreal Paris Infallible 24H Reno Powder Foundation:
I find it easier to apply it with my regular powder brush to top off the infallible foundation , because i don’t look for coverage when it comes to this stuff. However, the puff works well for smoothing it over the face and getting more coverage out of it. An every so slightly damp sponge works even better though you might want to work it in really well to keep it from caking up (and as always, pastry is not a good look!) It doesn’t settle unflattering as long as you don’t have too much on, goes on like a dream, and keeps you shine free.
What i don’t love about L’Oreal Paris Infallible 24H Reno Powder Foundation:
This is a no-brainer for me, with L’oreal the only thing i don’t love is the price point. Rs. 1250 is a little too much for a powder foundation . Call me old fashioned, but i would rather buy a liquid foundation with more coverage to it, for the price.
Price in India: Rs.1250
VNA Rating: 3.75/5
Where to Buy Online in India: amazon.in
VERDICT? Its a great supplement to the infallible liquid foundation and they work great as a team. If budget is not an issue then go ahead try it out, not for the coverage but for the matte effect and keeping your foundation in place.
