Keeping in mind this month’s base makeup theme I didn’t want to be left out. So I am back with a face product review and swatch from a brand which I have been loving recently ( Lakme). Foundation hmmmm…..when I used to watch so many youtube gurus and bloggers applying foundation on a daily basis I was like whhaaattt!! Daily!! I always thought why would they need to apply on a daily basis! And by now you would have read the title thats how you ended on this page. So yes people I will review the new lakme nine to five foundation which is my first one also.
Lakme Claims: Avoid messy spills & say no to touch ups! This long lasting formula does not streak or smudge. It is suited for Indian skin tones and blends in beautifully. Its blending properties make sure you don’t stand out or make you look “madeup” or “over dressed”. The easy to use pump dispenser allows you to pump out the perfect amount required for adequate coverage..
Features:
Long Lasting, Mattefying
Blends Well
Pump dispenser
All Skin Types
Suited for Indian skin t ones
The packaging is more on the heavier side. The bottle is made up of glass and it is very heavy to hold. Also the cap is too tight to open and if you by chance turn the cap the pump inside gets loose. I tighten it every time I open the bottle. The pump of the bottle is fine and doesn’t dispense too much product. I personally wouldn’t carry it while travelling because I would be worried whether it will break or something.
Coming to the shades, there are only 3 shades available so that is a problem because I doubt all the Indian ladies will find their perfect match because even mine is slightly on the lighter side.
I got it in the shade Marble which is a lighter shade with yellow undertones. The shade marble is almost a perfect match for me but if I get tanned for sure I wont be able to use it. I quiet like the consistency of the foundation. Its neither too runny nor too thick. Just the right consistency. The consistency is more like ponds bb cream. I use a sponge to apply the foundation which goes “FLAWLESSY” on my face. I have got clear skin so I don’t need much coverage but it does give medium coverage. Moreover you cannot use the product without applying a moisturiser or it will emphasize dry patches. It imparts a nice glow to my face which I quiet like and does feel light on my skin and not like I have applied an obvious foundation. It settles to a matte finish so if you are looking for dewy finish then this product isn’t for you.
When I wore it to college today people did notice the change in my face and did say it was looking good so it does brighten up my complexion and gives that nice evenness to my face. All in all I like this foundation. For 450 bucks its worth buying.
Let’s check the photos and swatches:
Comparison with Ponds BB cream. Lakme foundation is on left and Ponds BB cream
is on the right. As you can see Ponds is a little bit darker..that is my exact shade.
When it comes to the staying power boy was I amazed. I wore it at 8 in the morning and since it was sat I was home by 1 and when I entered all my mom said was why is my face glowing. I was like really?! So I took a photo at 1 to show you guys the difference. There was a slight difference as I have oily skin the area near my nose was slightly streaky and I just blotted it, then it was fine. So, by the end of 5 hours I still din feel like applying a compact and I was impressed with how it was looking.
This is how the Lakme foundation look on me when just applied
This is how the Lakme foundation look on me after 5 hours
Love Nine To Five Flawless Makeup Foundation by Lakme- why?
Extremely long lasting.
Imparts a nice glow
Good coverage.
Doesn’t give a streaky finish.
Has a pump so hygienic and less messy.
Gives a matte finish which i absolutely love.
Extremely good for oily to combination skin people like me.
No need of any touch ups.
Price ( comparing to other brands)
Hate Nine To Five Flawless Makeup Foundation by Lakme- why?
Not at all travel friendly because I need items to be less heavy and manageable.
Limited Shades.
Quiet drying if applied without a moisturiser.
No spf.
Doesnt give a dewy finish.
Price: Rs.450
VNA Rating: 4/5 ( I would love it more if the shades were a perfect match)
Will i buy again? Well once I finish it , I may buy other brands but I will never stop raving about it and would always suggest people to try it if they are on a budget.
Why should you buy? Lakme Nine To Five Flawless Makeup Foundation is for all the oily skinned people like me and they should give this a try. I liked it and so will you.
See, even Anshita did not believe me when I raved about this! I had used two bottles are so far it’s one of the best foundations ( apart from bourjois Healthymix) I have used! But HM costs about 1300 and it’s 450. You can do the math now!! I loved the way it fared on my oily skin since nothing else would work!
Heehehe lol I had msged her saying how much I am loving it :) and she told do a review so here it is :) me sure her opinion would have changed by now :)… for 450 bucks its such a nice product:)
Ah! Memories. My 2nd lakme foundation. I too have oily/combi skin which is extremely sensitive. Even though it gave a nice bright look as Ranitha mentioned, but it always gave me tiny red bumps on my face. And then a day before my very 21st birthday it left an angry hive (raah) on my cheeks that totally ruined my skin texture now. Turned out I am Rosacea prone. Other than that, yes, it is totally lobg lasting. I once wore it to college sometime last year, around september. It was hot. I then went for a movie after 5 1/2hrs of college, dinner and then came back to see slight oiliness alibg the T-zone (c’mon oily skinned here). And it makes your skin look fresh. But yeah, shade selection’s teicky and limuted.phhtt! Sensitive skin? You might wanna do a test (and for once, take the patch test thingy seriously )..otherwise like Ramitha says.. :)
So sad to hear it broke u out… I personally like it because its long lasting and I am very lazy to do touch ups so that is the one thing that excited me most :) I love it when I don’t have to worry whether my face is looking oily o something :)
